Ah, the 1980s, when people still watched the network evening news.

After Huntley and Brinkley went away I have been an abc guy for the most part. That and Fox.

Back when news was news instead of entertainment. Well, when it wasn’t totally entertainment.

Fox must be good, the way you folks keep referencing it rather than all the other news sources.

Fox is always good for a laugh.

i solved the dilemma of finding an honest network news service or newspaper. to heck with all that noise. instead, made my own personally validating reporter list (and story links) to follow daily on twitter. # nailed it ! #patent-pending@

I find gocomics is a good place to follow the news. I get to hear both sides — the clever posters that I agree with and the nutcases that I don’t!

Many old-time journalists objected strenuously when the networks converted news to a profit-center rather than a cost-center. They began giving people entertaining news and news that their demographic felt reinforced their already-held views and opinions, rather than just presenting the facts in an unbiased way (or as unbiased as possible) in order to make more money on commercials etc. That was the end of truly objective news.
