Then, they’ll send you home, charge you for the, appointment, make you come back and charge you again. Just take a good book and ear plugs, so you will not have to listen to the TV.

It got up to three hours at my old GP. Two hours in the waiting room, then another 45 at least waiting in the inner sanctum for him to arrive. It is because they book in three people in the same time slot. My friend worked in a doctors office and told me that.

They really don’t care how long you wait because they have to be there all day anyway.

And that is straight from a GP’s receptionist.

OTOH I bet when he spends 45 minutes talking about a 15 minute problem he isn’t watching the clock.

First thing (first appointment) in the morning usually works out pretty well.

Or you could take time off work, wait, and then find out your “appointment” wasn’t in the system. “So sorry”, how about next week or next month or the month after that? Any of those work for you?

Sometimes it is not the doctor’s fault. I had an appointment where the person before me booked an appointment for himself…then brought his whole family to the appointment and then asked the doctor to look at all of them. After that a sign appeared that an appointment was for ONE person, others would need their own appt, with added cost.

I was told last week that my doctor was booked up for two months. I guess I’ll start looking for a different doctor.

When I had a PPO, I’d wait an hour or longer to see the doctor. I’ve been on an HMO for four years, and have never waited more than ten minutes.

There does appear to be a double standard for doctor’s appointment. You can wait for hours, but if you’re late for an appointment they cancel and charge you for a missed appointment.

None of my doctors would have an available appointment in one month. They all have at least a 5 week wait.

What if your mohel (moyel) had a five week wait? He’d lose a lot on tips.
