Simple- ‘Woke’ is being awakened… Enlightened enough to try to live up to the ideal that all men (and Women) Are in fact ‘Brothers (and sisters) under the skin’, worthy of the same treatment and respect each of us hopes to receive for him-or-her self. We realize there is only One ‘race’… the Human race. The MAGA-ites, and Neo-Nazis, and others whose thought-processes have never advanced beyond the Reptile-brain into the cerebral cortex not only have not realized this, but are bound-and-determined to prevent anyone else from realizing it- or, judging by Florida and Texas’ actions recently, even having the opportunity to learn there Are other options than conformity-in-hatred. Like the T-Rex when it first sighted the comet, they recognize their doom, once the majority of humanity moves past the primitive emotions and responses embedded in the reptile portions of the brain. And yes, that doom IS inevitable- because if it is Not, and the reptile-brains prevail- Humanity will provide its Own comet, in the form of mushroom clouds and a nuclear winter. To paraphrase Ben Franklin, if Mankind does not hang together, we will Surely hang separately’… Only with a nuclear noose in place of hempen ones.

    Funny cartoon, Drew!

I don’t s’pose any evangelicals ever thought about being “woke” as applying the Golden Rule, being as how that’s not really part of “Christianity”.

    Or something.

It is the past tense of “wake,” such as “I woke you up too early, didn’t I?”

The original definition (born of the BLM movement) was very straightforward-the refusal to be complacent in the face of social injustice.

Pretty far-fetched, the elephunt asking that question.

Excellent! It varies from day to day and from person to person, group to group.

Seems to be anything they don’t think they like, for whatever reason. Or anything they think they can label in such a ways as to incite their voters to go to the polls, for them. One good indicator seems to be any idea since about the year 1600 (chosen arbitrarily).

70 million, it’s just another nebulous derision you derive whenever you are encountered with change……………..don’t worry about it; understanding is not one of your fortes.
