Dumbwich Castle by Lord Birthday for April 30, 2020

Dinner in bed sounds…ummm…interesting with those scallops. I would prefer a bed of cheeseburgers and fully-loaded fries; but I guess beggars can’t be choosers so I’ll fake smile and enjoy eating the scallops. “Mmmmm, tastes good honey!”

Another Thursday without Lord Birthday. And they said that this pandemic couldn’t get any worse.

Looks like another hiatus.

All my favorite comics on this site just seem to peter out; I hope this doesn’t happen to D.C. Lord Birthday, please come back!

Another Thursday, another disappointment. You keep breaking our dates, Lord Birthday!

Getting in early for some preemptive disappointment for the 11th.

A Thursday without Lord Birthday is like a day without orange juice or sunshine or Anita Bryant. Two out of three—that’s bad.

And once again my hopes are dashed.

Another disappointing Thursday.

If it’s Thursday, this must be. . .well, it ain’t Lord Birthday. Again. Darn It! (Yes, I have been driven to expletives! I feel so strongly about this, that—Double Darn It, I say! And yet again—Double Darn It!)

A-GAIN??

I hope the murder hornets haven’t gotten him. Lord Birthday, this time needs you now more than ever! Please don’t hide your gifts under a rock, or a pile of dirty clothes or whatever…

And another Thursday comes and goes. Are these ever coming back?

Welcome back, ye legions of fans. Together we are strong. Together we are disappointed.

This is the only way I can keep the days straight during COVID-19. Every Thursday I know I will not get to see more of the Lord of the Castle.

I would really appreciate it if someone would let us know if “Dumbwich Castle” is ever coming back. I mean, it’s just common courtesy.

Sigh. Again.

In an attempt to quell my DC withdrawal, I am creating DC strips in my head. They’re not as good and usually feature okra.

And again.

Last time he took a hiatus it was because he was writing a book. The book came out in March so I’m not sure why he hasn’t updated the comic strip since April. :(

The derecho that hit the Midwest made it impossible for me to check in to be disappointed last Thursday, so I imagined that there was a new Castle just waiting for me to enjoy. The power and internet just returned so I came here as quickly as I could—to be disappointed again. Disappointment delayed is still disappointing. But at least it is consistent.

No derecho this week and no Dumbwich Castle. The former? The absence is wonderful. The latter? Well, here I am again, pining for the fjords.

Sigh.

I check almost daily for an update. Today, there was a pause before the page loaded, my heart leapt like a trout after a mosquito, only to come crashing down…aw, nuts.

I guess this is abandoned? Too bad, I liked it.

Abandonment. A new word to describe my weekly disappointment. As I said last week, “sigh”.

It’s Thursday. No new comic, and the president lied to us about COVID-19. I guess there ARE still some things we can still count on in the USA!

Every Thursday I check the Lotto America results and then I check to see if we have been graced with a new Dumbwich Castle. My faith in coming here was last rewarded on April 30. I still haven’t won Lotto America. There is a lesson in there somewhere.

Funny that his new book is called Hope!, because I am losing hope in this comic ever returning. An exotic massage with donkey blood looks more rewarding.

Disappointment. Again.

His Instagram had a brand-new comic called “Quarantine Nicknames” posted 7 weeks ago. Would have thought he would have published it here too but I guess he’s done with GoComics? As for the “personal concert” panel, it’s easy to tell who the Conservative is.

And did he ever return? No, he never returned. And his fate is still unlearned. He will ride forever ‘neath the streets of Boston—he’s the man, who never returned!

As they kids say, “Ditto”! Or is it the adults?

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, and we will have had almost seven months of pining for the Castle. I have been trying to work that sad fact into a “Thanksgiving toast” but am having trouble with the punch line. Any advice?

I guess this comic is gone for good. I kinda liked it, so I’m sorry. It’s a shame it ended with one that may have been Lord Birthday’s worst one ever (parents dying just isn’t all that funny in any context).

I think I’ve said it all. I feel like the faithful dog who refuses to leave the gravestone even seven months after the funeral.

Just one more disappointing Thursday before Christmas! Get your shopping done early so you can be disappointed here next week!

I guess a Christmas Miracle was too much to ask for. Lord Birthday is on the naughty list.
