A friend I worked with invited me in to experience his surround sound system. The dvd he played? Saving Private Ryan. The opening landing battle was impressive!
That’s the closest to activity I have ever seen Jack engage in. Not surprised he gave in so quickly, too much like work to enter negotiations on anything.
I’ve been in a movie theater with surround sound. It was “Star Wars” chapter 2 in a small theater and a good seat could be had from the back row. I had laid my head on the back wall when it started vibrating sound coming from behind the the space craft came into view the sound shifted to the front. So also “Return of the King”, a swooshing sound in the back shifting to the front and the Nazgul with it’s rider came into view.
I have bit of a hearing issue so I cobbled some nice speakers by my recliner that connect to TV. Dual input is nice so I can connect Bluetooth. Susceptible to interference from my ham station
When we got our tv sound system finished we tested it out by playing Star Wars ANH. Until you hear and feel the Imperial Star Destroyer coming in over your head you have not really experienced the movie.

Back in 70’s we sold Quadraphonic systems, rather interesting as matrix removed vocals from rear speakers leaving instruments
