It all began about a thousand years ago when an animal with long ears and four strange legs, named jack, met another strange critter named Mary rabbit. They dated, got married, had kids, and the rest is history. Nothing derogatory…..just the way it is.

A coworker once described his participation in the annual Idaho Jack Rabbit roundup (and subsequent slaughter) as cathartic. He’s a sick bast-rd.

Gotta admit, they are kinda freaky lookin’… like they live near a nuclear power plant or sumthin’!

Ishka Bibel is quite right, the original name given to this particular southwestern denizen is “Jacka*s” rabbit in real life, back in the days when people WEREN’T offended by the term “a*s”…

Actually, it refers to the fact that if you pump their ears up and down, they grow taller. Fact! Try it yourself on a wild one.

Jackrabbits are actually hares, which are longer and leaner than the rounder cuter rabbits.
