smart thinking, Rhetta
She’s soaking wet – and he thinks that’s bad?
Michael me lad, ya found a keeper.
She’s a keeper Mike
Mike is so super focused on Rhetta that he forgets he’s more in trouble with his dad than Rhetta.
Has Rhetta already met John??
How else would she know about his obsession about his car??
Some things are much more important than being wet.
Panel 4: “Usually, my monthly shower is not that chaotic!”
You could tell Dad that it was a ‘clean’ date.
Needs a wet-vac and some box fans. It will be VERY clean after that. :)
She bears half the blame – why didn’t she put up her window?
anything other than boring…….
“How are WE going to tell your dad?” If Michael wasn’t in such a daze, he could think quick and have replied, “Oh could you tell him? That would be better. Dad wouldn’t hit a girl!”
…“we”… That’s a great girl there.
oh they’ll be married in about 10 years of strips…she’s a keeper
The brat strikes again. Never have cared for this little nerd. Rhetta has the correct concern.
What’re we going to tell your mom?
What’re we going to tell your pop?
What’re we going to tell our friends when they go “OOH LA LA”?
At least Michael got his monthly bath.
John’s priorities are sports car first, career second, family third. When John dies, he wants the sports car to be buried with him.
From ‘’Risky Business’’ …. ’’Who’s the u-boat commander?’’
Bonus—-a wet t-shirt contestant
Mike should tell John that his car received a thorough washing.
dah, that’s sweet. :)
Maybe this will touch off some reader reminisces about “unusual first dates”. This one would seem to be a leading contender.
And that’s the STORE Uniform they’ll have to pay to replace.
One of the strips – and collection of comments – that reminds me how different my perspective is. My first thought is how to get the car drying and save any paperwork that may be soaked. Water damage is progressive and nobody is hurt. Deal with the problem then deal with the people.
Better yet, what possessed him to decide to wash his dads car while he is driving a potential new GF home after long day at work?
Best car/bus wash movie scene was in TROUBLE WITH ANGELS with Halley Mills
Michael, showing his budding maturity, thinking about Rhetta, instead of about an inanimate sports car.
That’s really funny
Fortunately, she reminded him of his Dad?
The most feared words in a young boy’s life: “Just wait until your Father gets home !”
Just park it in the sun for a month so the water evaporates
Well… I guess we take the car and never return to this town – FOREVER.
Spouse material, Someone who cares more about the other person’s predicament than their own discomfort. Their parents raised them well.
That would have been my first thought.
it’s not a date, she knows it was unintentional, she will look back and LAAAAAUGH at it!
Focus on the “we” Michael.
Michael bears most of the blame, but you’d think the car wash people would make sure the car’s windows were closed before letting him go through.
A lady who CARES.
That was the last thing on his mind
Note that she said, “we”. She’s going to stick it through with him. She may well be worth hanging on to.
Mars Venus! ;-)
The answer to your question is simple michael, you never think about what you do, the proof is that while you were wondering what she would think of you, what you should have thought is what your father would think when he found out about the car!
ignoring gender and boyfriend girlfriend dynamic … if you ever find a friend who’s first inclination is “where to we hide the body/ let’s get out alibis’ worked out.” KEEP that person in your life.
