First thing you do is wear long sleeves and long pants. Spraying citronella can help too. Or bring a bug spray designed for mosquitoes and spray away till every one is dead. Those nice big swarms are perfect for the wide angle spray.
My Dad took me camping when I was a kid. I took my kids camping when they were young. Of course, that was before the internet and cell phones, and amazingly we all had a great time anyway.
I only enjoyed one camping trip. Of course, that was in a huge motor home with AC, a shower and a small flat screen with DVD. The darn thing cost more that my condo! Then again, I wasn’t paying for it!
My family took a couple of boat tours of Alaska & the Canadian west coast. You got to go on nature hikes and watch whales. Plus you also got to eat nice meals in the dining hall, shower and sleep in a bed. And we got to see a momma grizzly and her babies from the zodiac boat with no risk of being mauled.

Sorry, Roger, but I’m with Paige on this one. You can have the great outdoors — MY idea of “roughing it” is staying at a Motel 6 in Hollywood!

I like nature, but four years in the Marines took the joy out of camping.

Camping’s okay as long as the area has fun stuff to do.

The oatmeal must have been under-cooked — or Jason simply hasn’t stirred it enough.

I wonder how many are camping out for the eclipse for Monday? For myself do not want to camp outside. Not interested in the bugs.

The point of camping is to get away from cell phones, internet, etc.
