That’s a bonehead play. Don’t you know what you’re gonna do to us a few million years in the future?

I read some of the conspiracy posts, what a bunch of idiots. I have researched alternative energy for 45 yrs and not once did anyone or anything try to stop us. Efficient Solar and Wind are 50 to 60 years away. Biofuels that work about 25 years.

tjmx0512: Strange, I have studied the whole field of appropriate technology – not just energy, but the whole field of non-exploitative, human-scaled technology that can give us a higher standard of living without wrecking the planet. I designed a 6 semester-hour introduction course on the subject and successfully taught it on a non-credit basis through a nearby community college. Then, in 1982, Reagan abolished the Bureau of Appropriate Technology and the corporate media obediently stopped all mention of the subject. I am not permitted to teach it at any institution of higher education within a hundred miles of here – even non-credit. But they have no qualms about “subjects” like astrology, tarot, and similar. There is no conspiracy – the multinational corporations don’t want people to do things for themselves and their neighbors instead of paying them to do them exploitatively and the educational institutions depend on the corporations for grant money to keep following orders.

wuzone: To explain the obvious, I have not applied beyond 100 miles because of commuting distance. Farther would eat any pay in transportation, even in a Prius. This range includes four state universities, two affiliated with major religious denominations, and seven two-year community colleges. I actually had preliminary interviews with one of the state universities (from which I received my MS) and was scheduled for a final one with lunch, but was stood up. I suspect they realized wouldn’t be good for their tenure track to teach people to do things for themselves when the chair of their board of regents also headed the electrical monopoly! My initial studies in this field (other than on my own) were at the 1976 NGO part of the UN Conference on Human Habitation and at the University of British Columbia.

As for tjmx which started this, currently (not in his distant future) solar is a major part of Germany’s power system, wind is in Denmark and even in Perry’s hostile Texas produces twice (12% versus 6%) more power than nuclear. We had an aquaculture (catfish) operation in my own county that ran machinery on corn ethanol and fed cattle on the “distillers waste” after the alcohol is extracted and the grain is broken down into simpler and more easily digested carbohydrates.

Stereotypical ridicule may get you browning points with our multinational corporate overlords, but not with anyone who has studied the subject to make it work rather than build straw men to “prove” it won’t. I have never attempted to violate the laws of physics as your liable asserts.
