Besides, it isn’t true. I’ve proved that once or twice.

Is this the “Road of Life”? Could he put it on a Dead End street?

Our community replaced all of the Dead End signs with signs that said No Outlet. They said study results showed that Dead End was offensive to some people…

Big signs don’t seem to make a difference on our cul-de-sac. Cars still slow, look up the street to where it curves out of sight, turn in, and speed up. A minute or so later, they’re back at the intersection, wondering which way to go, as if they forgot which direction they came from in the first place. Hopeless.

My home town had only one one-way street. It was two blocks long. I never could figure out why.

It’s better than “Abandon all hope, ye that enter here.”

At least the sign does not say, “Theirs no turning back!”

The driver of an 18 wheeler missed a turn. Because it was a left turn, he was looking at streets on the left. He drove by an intersection that had a “No Outlet” sign, and continued on. The next intersection was to very short cul-de-sac, so he didn’t turn there. Now in a residential area, he thought he should turn around soon. But, the next street was uphill. He turned into the following street, the cul-de-sac where I was living at the time. Although it was a gentle uphill slope, there was ice. At the point where the street widened, the truck lost traction. He wasn’t able to make full use of the loop, so he turned where he was. When the trailer was nearly 90 degree angle to the street, the tractor got stuck in snow.

The neighbors and and the USPS carrier came out with sand, salt, and shovels to help.
