The late, great Chicago columnist Mike Royko held an ongoing unofficial beer quality contest. He claimed the lowest ranked brands might as well have been run through a (draft) horse.
I remember my senior year in high school; I had to take driver’s ed in order to be on my parents insurance. The instructor was a fairly young guy who was also a science teacher. One day as we were driving about , he asked the ‘class’ ( three of us) what our plans were after we graduated. “I’m going to travel the country, tasting all the local beers,” I said. He looked at me for a moment and asked, “Can I come with you?”
I have three different editions of “1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die”. They’re pretty much out of date when they’re published, and there’s actually 1142 different ones considering all three editions. I’ve only had 291 of them, so I guess I’m not allowed to die?
