I’ve never been to Mondo Mart, but it must have a better chance of seeing a Crocus than Antarctica or Greenland.

The crocuses usually came up long before snow mounds disappeared.

Except that the glaciers aren’t disappearing. Most of them are growing.

I miss crocuses. We had them at our house in the south suburbs of Chicago. We also had tulips, lilacs, lily of the valley, mock orange, and violets. Here, I have hibiscus, lavender, orange trees in the yard, and roses.

The snow piles were holding on pretty well yesterday when I went for groceries

Is it better to speak from personal experience or from book knowledge?

There is an area behind our house that doesn’t get much sun

The last of the snow and ice almost lasted until the first day of spring, but a few warm days this last weekend did them in

Beware the sooti trolls on the remaining Mondo-mart snow piles. They abduct the bargain-hunters in the parking lot which explains all the unattended shopping carts.

Do y’all get a lot of Pink Snow Mold in that area when the snow finally melts?

In my community, the ‘mountain’ of snow from a winter’s removal has been documented as not completely melting away before the next Winter.

So, Summer just means two weeks of poor sledding.

In central VA AM temps are in the low 20’s but the sun is shining so not a bad start. The jonquils and forsythia are up and blooming. Flowering almond are about to drop their short-lived pinks. Our Lenten Roses add beautiful soft colors to the flower beds. Been blooming since early Feb, which makes them about the only mid-winter blooming plants I see in this neighborhood.

All in all it’s a good day for just thinking of what we have to do to get ready for the coming seasons.

After 3 years of HS Latin, I find myself musing about whether the correct plural is “croci”.

Charles. Opinions are abundant. You can quash those who disagree with you, if you just cite your sources. We are all waiting.

We enjoyed some crocuses this year that my mother planted over 50 years ago.
