Here’s a CRAZY idea—attend a college you can afford. Most community colleges are free or at least really reasonable. Then transfer. I once talked to a woman who was an engineer at one of the big tech companies. When I asked her where she went to college, she was embarrassed to say. I asked “You work for [insert big tech company here]! Obviously not going to Harvard didn’t hurt your employability. Facts are facts, whether they are taught at a grossly overpriced school or a local one.” I know a kid who was thrilled to get into Georgetown, even though he had no way to pay for it, but it was his DREAM school. Now he wants student loan forgiveness. I didn’t go to my dream school. I worked hard to get scholarships and then worked two jobs the entire time I was in school. I don’t live in my dream house. I don’t drive my dream car. I’ve never taken my dream vacation. Why should I pay for him to attend his dream school?
