Why would anyone easily fall for Garfield? He’s lazy, rude, obnoxious, smug and unpleasant in every single way. Arlene’s assumptions about him cheating on her would imply that she doesn’t know him that well.

Garfield likes Arlene just for her food.

What she means is that she can do better. It’s amazing they’re still together after 40 years.
