It could be the batteries.

Maybe you could put a spell on yourself that makes you want to do your homework.

Meanwhile, out in the kitchen hundreds of animated broomsticks are hauling water.

I once wished that my room would clean itself and with full faith that it would work, went outside to play. Only to be called in and then called out for my failure to tidy my mess. I guess it did get clean, but by one very disappointed little girl.

Everyone knows you have to sleep with the book under your pillow first.

Even if it is full of magick if you don’t have the right aura you would never get it to work. But then the normal background manna or P.K.E. is hardly sufficient these days unless you are a most skilled and powerful practitioner of thaumaturgy. What some call simply “magick” after Magus Alistair Crowley who wanted to differentiate stage magic from the real thing. Quantum Physics has a surprising amount to do with it. Also your soul you must use too in order to make it work properly for you.

The batteries are just dead; unfortunately, they can only be recharged with A CHILD’S SOUL. So…
