If lockdowns worked, they would have worked before. Perhaps someone can explain how a piece of paper or cloth can contain a virus that a LEVEL 4 bioweapons labs couldn’t contain (assuming the best case scenario and it really was an accident).
One of the great sorrows of my life is being forced to learn just how stupid, self-centered, and mean deluded and/or dishonest approximately 1/3 of my fellow Americans are. Until Ex-45, I kind of thought of us Americans on the whole as a cool group of people.
So what’s your cutesy name for FL, TX, and 5 other GOP led states where: masks are banned, vaccinations not encouraged, mass gatherings are encouraged, and political leaders blame migrants and immigrants.
I am wearing my “face burka” to protect others, particularly my wife who is recovering from cancer. I can only wish the USA would be as smart as Australia.
I wanted to mention that there’s a Henry Payne cartoon on the cover of the July/August issue of The Environmental Forum, the journal of the Environmental Law Institute. It features a woman in a drab office cubicle imagining a bright and colorful cityscape where the skies are blue, every gleaming building has solar collectors, elegant windmills abound, and a sleek electric monorail train threads between the skyscrapers. Not a smokestack or internal combustion engine to be seen.
I hope he got well paid for producing that, because drawing it must have nearly killed him.
Many on the right refused to follow original “mandates” and now refuse the vaccine (and yes, I know they are not the only group rejecting the shot). The virus mutated. Numbers are rising, in a large part because of inaction on the right (leaders and followers). Now they use THAT inaction as PROOF the masks/lock downs/vaccines don’t work. “Quod erat demonstrandum”.
California has almost twice the population of Florida, and despite their restrictive lockdown policies, had half again as many fatalities as Florida. Almost 200,000 fled Commiefornia last year, while Florida’s population continues to increase.
Stupid Henry Payne sides with the virus. I’d say there’s evidence he’s had it and it’s clouding his thinking except he’s exhibited minimal thought processes long before Covid was ever discovered.
And Henry, thankfully we still have a population that, in the main, listens to the science, and is community minded a enough to take the advice of its leaders. What has been a cock up is the rollout of vaccines in this country, which is a contributing factor in the current status. Another contributing factor (in my mind), is the unwillingness of the Conservative (who would have guessed it?), New South Wales government to properly establish rapid containment of the virus at the outset of this latest debacle. One conservative government failure has led to 15 million people being locked down. Failure by a Conservative (who would have guessed it?), Federal government to properly roll out the vaccines required has led to other states being locked down again. The conservative NSW government also (due to the inadequate rollout), ‘borrowed’ vaccines from the regions, thus putting those areas at greater risk of infection now the virus has spread. Nothing fascist about it Henry, just the inadequacies of conservative governments. You know, like your GOP, all talk, no bloody substance. Compare our death rate with yours you moron!
Henry’s most recent auto review gives low praise to the Mustang Mach E Electric when he should be slamming Michigan. He owns a Tesla. And admits it in printhttps://www.detroitnews.com/story/opinion/columnists/henry-payne/2021/08/05/payne-turning-heads-chasing-chargers-up-north-mustang-mach-e/5450267001/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark
When I was practicing paediatric oncology I wore masks all the time around my immune-compromised patients. I felt it better to protect a child’s life than anything else. Why does Payne hate children? Oh, that’s right, he’s a republikkklan.

Hyperbole much, Payne??
How can one cartoonist be so afraid of so many things??
It seems clear that your paycheck depends on fear and hyperbole.

Oh, sure idiots, lockdowns don’t work - except when they do.
New Zealand has had 26 deaths, and 25 of those date from before and just after they went into lockdown last year. Only 1 death in more than a year.
Oh, sure idiots, lockdowns don’t work - except when they do because the population doesn’t include idiots.

So how’s that “Fauci-Free Freedom Zone” workin’ for ya in Florida, Yanks?
Maybe Payne should STFU before criticizing another country’s battle against COVID.
BTW, where’s Aussie GrumpyPoBart? Haven’t heard from him for a while.

Payneful indeed to contemplate how utterly self centered and antisocial is good ol’ Henry P. Even when it’s not his country he’s commenting about.

I’ve read about people donning disguises to get vaccinated, so that those who know them won’t know that they’ve done so.
I wonder how many “conservative” cartoonists are among them.
