If Payne was really a serious car guy then he would promote EVs since they accelerate faster than ICE vehicles, and have less parts to break when you flog them. As the public adopts EVs that leaves more of the shrinking supply of oil to lubricate and fuel the ICE vehicles, keeping them viable longer before the supply dries up.
