BEFORE the debate, the commentary was that Mitt was advised to change his positions, say what he thought people wanted to hear, and shout it loud, even if there were no facts involved. That’s what he did, and I’m sorry Obama didn’t nail him better for it.
But yes, 99% of Americans WILL be under that bus if MItt wins, and Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, and the others gain more control.
At first I watched the debates on television with sound on, and then with sound off. After I had figured the body language routines, I listened to the sound alone on a radio. If these two men came out of nowhere and you watched and listened to them, you would certainly think Romney came out ahead. (Was that occasional pitying look he gave at Obama rehearsed? It was a neat touch.) Today I will read a printed transcript..However, anyone following the campaign in depth so far would have heard the same old things from both sides. I don’t think this added anything useful other than to give Romney supporters a morale boost. Good for them, maybe they’ll dig up the gold coins they’ve been burying the last few months..In debates of this type, I think, we anticipate the car wreck moments. Failing those, we instinctively watch the faces and body movements. Certainly the language goes by too fast, and the lists of points can’t be followed and remembered after 90 minutes. The candidates might as well be shown with the sound dubbed in doggy noises (I’m thinking Soupy Sales and White Fang/ Black Tooth.).And you know (I’m ashamed to admit it) I kind of enjoyed watching Jim Lehrer lose control of the situation. All his carefully explained rules went to hell. I’m rather tired of his endowed saintliness and that of the entire PBS News Hour staff. Let’s get a few crotchety old-timers in there that don’t give a hoot. I’d volunteer, and I’m sure a few of you would, too. Give us two good loud shock buzzers and we’d be ready to go!
Jeff, you got it wrong. It took me 8 calls to find a doctor who would take medicare and now he tells me that if O is elected, he will only take a the ones he has now and accept no more. So who is throwing us seniors under the bus? Not Romney!
Obama threw his own grandmother, half-brother, aunt, and pastor/mentor under the bus. These are verified and documented facts. The above comic is mere speculation.

Mitt’s “little 25% tax cut for the job creators” would throw a lot of people under that bus.

Untrue. Here in Texas it is very specific: If she’s a relative, you better do it.
