Quite right. The state should not care for the people it receives funds from.

If the state did not receive the people’s money perhaps the people might better fend fpr themselves

“If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn’t help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we’ve got to acknowledge that he commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don’t want to do it”

. . .a millionaire tax is an appropriate response to the rise of the winner-take-all economy and its extreme concentration of ecomonic power at the top. At the end of the day, the super-rich benefit greatly from the on-going exercise in social cooperation that is American society …

The founding fathers, rightly, didn’t trust “the church” which is exactly why they wrote in “promote the general welfare” as government responsibility, and Article Six banning any “religious test” and banned any government sponsored “religion” in the Constitution. period.

If you REALLY want “religion” to determine your government and future- Iran or Saudi Arabia await you!

Growing up with little money, I found the charities were better tuned to get food on our table than the Government programs. We’d be better off dismantling the Welfare system we have and giving half the money to charities who feed so many on a shoestring now. I wish each of you Libbies would spend a year on Welfare and contrast that to volunteering/ taking part of a local charity. It might open your eyes to why the cupboard is bare with the wasteful Feds.

As for Kimberly’s “Emptied by …instead of Dom Perignon.” don’t forget that it is also emptied by some really lazy people who game the system. In the neighborhood that I grew up in there were plenty of people who openly gamed the system and were proud of it. THEY are the thieves who take money and opportunity away from people like my mother, a widow with 5 kids to feed. I grew up listening to Libbies like you who pretended to be my champions, but always commenting on my race and on how much i needed you. Luckily there were some Connies that found me and set me straight. Some of my old neighbors are still on Welfare and when I see them at reunions and such, they make fun of me because I have to work everyday. But how can they work when they are busy Emptying the cupboard.
