    If it were to act as an airplane black box, it would be recording flight data, not necessarily transmitting it. The question would be how would the data survive if the plane crashed in water and sunk.

    I would think the stolen passports would have been altered to avoid suspicion.

    On Southern Airways in the 60’s, had to go up and tell the pilot and copilot they’d flown past our destination, and needed to turn back. Which, back in those days on regionals you never got to 30,000 feet, where jet engines are more efficient.
