I’m so sorry to hear about your son. I have been doing cancer research for 38 years, and the one thing I have learned is that while a person contracts cancer, a family suffers from it. We are working every day to make this horror go away, and knowing the folks I work with, and how smart and dedicated they are, someday we will win. Until then God love ya, God Bless ya, and God keep ya every minute.
Obamacare is a good idea, poorly conceived, and badly implemented. The only ones who are making out on the deal are the insurance companies who have just been authorized (in my state) to be able to increase their rates by 33%.
If you really want affordable health care, don’t let politicians and especially lawyers make the rules. Call in a bunch of nurses and let them set up the program. If anyone really knows what is going on in health care and how to give quality care at minimum cost, it’s nurses.
As for the Republicans on this issue, they are monumentally stupid. Instead of failing time and again to repeal Obamacare and looking like a bunch of stubborn idiots, they should have been working to reform it and look like heroes. Cheap shots, trash talk and no substance makes them look like a bunch of whiny losers.
Looking into FEHB “self and one other (spouse)” instead of self and family for lower rates, and compare coverage; first time offered, and makes sense for older couples. BUT; while no kids, there is the age related increase in medical care for “seniors”, so need to compare carefully.
Wish we had the New Zealand system our daughter is in, not free by any means, but a lot cheaper than in the U.S., and they keep their costs down. The do need to improve their preventative care by my RN daugher’s observation.

Pretty easy answer: Christmas shopping is frequently not life or death.

Medicare for all, but you would still have to shop for supplemental insurance.

And using that TracFone from Sears must be stressful too.

Let’s abolish For-Profit-Healthcare. Seriously. Why is this even a thing?

Due to our Republican Governor and Legislators, we do not have much choice of insurance companies.
