I’m 67 years old. I have yet to watch an Oscar presentation. I can honestly say that I am ignorant about this issue even though it probably gets better coverage than other things that are happing in the world.
All that glitters isn’t gold, on the silver screen. However, despite awards and quality production, it is what brings in the gold at the box office that really counts. Well, interestingly enough, with online movie watching, the folks who own, especially those small screens in rural America, are all going out of business, but the mega-corporations like Disney, continue to rake in record profits.
How wonderful to live with white privilege and never have to worry if a white representative will get an Oscar or Miss America or get that promotion. We can make up funny posts about how racists sports teams are – with their white male coaches. But until you feel scared to drive down the street because you will get pulled over and beat, until you turn on TV and see no faces that look like you, you just don’t seem to want to understand.
Usually the movies I like never get mentioned in these Oscar wingdings. In fact the only one that I know of that won a statue was “Wings” back around 1927 or 28. Most of the films nominated this year are all unknowns to me.The last picture I saw at a theatre was “Avatar.” The one before that was “Tombstone.”
All I was trying to say – and not in a whiny way – is we see a lot of minorities passed over. It’s not racist to take notice of this. The fact that it is happening is the racist part. And a lot of white people saying everyone should get over it, doesn’t make it less racist.

Boycott what? Is is needed with a pitty nomination because the rest wasn´t good enough a current year?

As far as I know, no bald, gold men have ever been nominated. More’s the pity.

I would boycott the Oscars but I haven’t watched an Oscar telecast in 30 years.
