The Republicans have been moving us backwards for as long as I can remember. Starting with Reagan selling out the country to the rich. Continuing with preemptive wars, not voting on judges, not having a platform, their stance on minorities, gender and sexual orientation and women, the science they ignore and the myths they (selectively) push forward. It has been a struggle to pull the rest of the country backwards with them.
tomFor years, the corporate media alternated the colors, election to election. It is relatively recently that they anchored them n the opposite, as you pointed out. However, you are totally wrong regarding the meaning of the colors. Red: revolution (what they are waving in Les Miz)Blue: fascism (Legion Azul, the Spanish SS unit in WW-II)Orange: socialism (NDP in Canada where they follow this code)Black: anarchy (Jolly Roger, etc.)White: surrender (or at least truce to negotiate)Yellow: quarantine (international ship signal for disease)Green: planet preservation, Islam (but Daesh is black)Purple: monarchy (seems to have faded to blue now)Brown and Gray are still unassigned. And, of course, many operate under false colors.
You notice that neither is moving on Up and taking us with them!
This signage does signify that we have 3 choices—Past, Present, Future. And to me at least the GOP tends to spend too much time with the nostalgia of how it used to be to make American really stronger for the Future where as one old seer named Criswell admonished that we would be living the rest of our lives (and hopefully not cowering behind a wall like those in Berlin).
I like the symbolic meaning of the red arrow on the blue background; it suggests that Hillary will pull the Deomcratic party back to the center (much to the chagrin of Obama and the outrage of Bernie).

Trump gets his ideas from Western Europe. 1930’s Germany.

Trump’s not backwards. What’s so backwards about the Inquisition?
If you’re not Christian, you don’t belong here or we’ll torture you until you change you mind. That’s what will make America Great.

Oh yes, and ONLY Trump can make this happen. …Oh how I wish that was true.

Forward? To another Clinton, extending that dynasty? Forward to all the lies and scandals of the past.
That said, I will clarify that I am not pro-Trump. Both of them horrify me. We’re screwed.

Well I’m looking FORWARD to what mistakes in judgment Hillary (Clinton) will make when she becomes president.

Politics is just like driving—if you want to go forward, put it in “D”. To go backwards, “R”.
