This reminds me of the guy who drove into a lake because his gps told him to turn right. Our technological advances are outpacing our intellect, we are automating ourselves out of jobs and social media-ing ourselves out of humanity. But at least we can look up what year Steve Austin was born in INSTANTLY!

My wife uses her smart phone to check on the status of airline flights and to check when severe weather is expected (she even has a alert set for that). She’s a nurse and uses text messaging to communicate with some of her patients and her boss.

Other than that it is a fun toy to check up on trivial facts. Is it worth $1,000?

We have unrealistic expectations of our computing devices in many cases. The best computer related course I ever enrolled in, did not let us touch the 3D graphics workstation computers until the very end of the course and it was not a problem as we had been taught all the limitations of the application and knew enough about the subject to know if the application was behaving correctly.

Considering the fact that most men will not ask another man for directions, but sees nothing unusual in asking the disembodied voice of a handheld Gadget how to get to Timbuktu is amazing.
