The folks who are in the “open too soon” states have my thoughts & prayers. Particularly the folks who have worked and will be working harder than I’d want to to save us if it’s at all possible.
Our thoughts and prayers were for the gun manufacturers only. We didn’t want them to suffer from financial losses due to sales decline and lawsuits. Nobody manufactures virus so it’s ok to settle for science and action.
Basic human nature: people do not like change. They want answers: simple answers they can understand.
Science gives them answers, but they are complicated answers and they are subject to change. See above: people want simple answers that do not change.
Science also gives them answers they don’t want to hear such as climate change is real and the miracle cure for this disease won’t be here next week.
Trump gives them answers: simple answers, answers they like to hear. Answers that cannot be changed (unless Trump changes them) and above all, answers that cannot be questioned.
This explains the large overlap between Trump supporters and some christian sects (they don’t deserve a capital “C”). Neither group can stand having their beliefs questioned. Their faith is like a stone wall: it stands solid against all truth the the contrary, because the faith itself too weak to stand on its own merits. It is the stone wall of a prison of their own making.
So Trump gives people simple answers that they like to hear. They may be totally aware that he is lying, but it’s a simple answer they like to hear and anything to the contrary is a personal attack on Trump and therefore fake news.
Do not attempt to hold a rational conversation with these people. They live in a fantasy universe based on laws and logic made to sustain their beliefs. They live in a tiny universe that rarely extends beyond their own skin or those who look like, live like and think like they do.
Actually, Trump is making an undercover survey to find people who believe anything he says. They’ll be the focus of his re-election campaign efforts once he’s on the road. Considering how many accept his current blab as good medical practices, he’s already got a base.
Hey, there’s a thought! Mr. Trump, you pray. Let the doctors and scientists think and act. They won’t pray, and you won’t stop their acting (thinking isn’t your long suit anyway, so keep up the good work on that end).
Is there only one reason for the federal government to exist? As the best way to line the pockets of the1 % while eliminating all people who oppose Repulsican greed and tendency to look at guns as a solution to every problem. Foolish me for thinking that the federal government was an agency to rally the people to fight common challenges to our country and way of life.

We are NOT bothering with science.
‘We’ are pushing the problem onto the governors.*
So far, none of the governors have pushed the problem onto the counties or cities. Yet.

Those thoughts and prayers killed 90% of the virus victims,
testing is what was needed.

Thoughts and prayers didn’t help numerous dyed-in-the-wool Christians who refused to observe shelter-in-place orders.

We’re not. Not really. It’s more “conjuring”. You know, smoke and mirrors, and misdirection.

Actually, several governors have pushed the problem to mayors by refusing to issue orders in response to outbreaks in meat processing plants.

I mean just ask all those Evangelical Christian pastors that passed away recently from the disease cause prayer was stronger than science to them.
