They’re always macho up front; then the virus strikes and they’re whimpering children who took the terrible advice of their evil idol: the Orange Plague. Just a little too late to lament but, what the heck, they can shed a tear or twelve.
People have as much right not to wear a mask as they do spitting in other people’s faces. In fact, if it were not for the virus, spitting in other people’s faces is more polite: at least it won’t kill you.
trumps republicans need to show superiority and strength.. solidarity. Like lemmings they follow their leader.. and with any luck, over the cliff to their own demise.
I think the no mask issue has been politicized. Yeah, going out on a limb, there, eh? I was in Lexington, MA a couple weekends ago. I had met my daughter there and we went for a nice hike along the walk/run/bike path. Masks are required, of course. My estimate was maybe 50% of the people were wearing them. If you’re not familiar with Lexington, it’s an upper-class town where the median home price is over $1m. My wife grew up there before it became a liberal elitist enclave. Put up a trump sign on your lawn and it won’t be there the next day. BLM signs everywhere. The town is probably ~70% white. The balance is almost all Chinese and Indian. Blacks are 0.1% of the population. As I waited in the municipal lot downtown, I watched wealthy white women come and go in their Range Rovers, Mercedes, etc. as they ran Saturday morning errands and chatting with their friends – no masks, no social distancing. Ironically, before the pandemic if you saw anyone wearing a mask in public there’s a good chance they were probably Chinese. I watched a group of at least a dozen Chinese teens getting ice cream and milling around. Not one mask among them and they were huddled up on and around a single picnic table. I’m going to go out on a limb and say 99% of the people I saw without masks and not practicing social distancing were NOT “MAGATS”, trumpists or even republicans.
Heard of those who think pulling masks off people is a fun thing (gotta wonder what the charge would be if the target fought back). Also heard tales not verified of frat house pools for having maskless parties to see who gets it first.
Appears the IQ’s of even larger segments of the public are running to single digits.
Cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are all declining in Canada. Seems like they have a leader who is on top of this. Our leader ~~ It’s being handled, it’s going to go away, we are doing too much testing. Florida has 41, yes 41, hospitals at capacity. He was going to accept the nomination in Florida, but may now find another place because of the virus. He wants a huge shoulder to shoulder crowd when he accepts the nomination, so why does he worry about the virus in Florida? This from the one who wants all our kids to huddle in classrooms together as soon as possible. This is far beyond incompetence!!
A thought about the effects of polls. So far all the polls are about Biden vs Trump, so Buttercup’s reactions are predictably negative – a massive understatement. He reacts the same way whenever members of his staff get more headline time. Usually they are just replaced.
So my question is, how would Buttercup react if the results of Pence vs Trump polls showed that Pence had a large lead over him? Be interesting to see.
