Of course. Arms(1) are mentioned in the Constitution, women aren’t. (1)Firearms and guns are not, but the NRA and RWSC “originalists” make sure you don’t know that.

This Supreme Court kind of picks and chooses what parts of the Constitution to hang their reasoning on, like Christians everywhere pick which parts of the bible to follow, and which parts to ignore.

Literal interpretation of the Constitution? The word abortion never mentioned? OK. Where is the Second Amendment do you see the word “ammunition”?

Let us remember who we have to thank for this decision: Senator Mitch McConnel.

There was a vacancy for Obama to fill. Mitch said, “It’s an election year. Let the voters decide. We will not conduct any confirmation hearings until after the election.” Then AS EARLY VOTING WAS BEING CONDUCTED during the 2020 election he said, “We need to railroad through Amy Barret immediately. She’s so conservative she’s even in trouble with the Catholic Church.”

So Mitch, take a bow! The Facists of America salute you.

It has become apparent that, for the next few generations, no issue that concerns the rights of citizens that comes before the current SCOTUS will receive unbiased consideration. It is by now obvious that congress and the courts are basically on the same path, i.e., the destruction of civil rights at all levels by those for whom the US Constitution has become a list of suggestions to be followed or discarded at will.

It was one of the shortest of its kind written for any nation, and was once the model for others. It also has become the longest running standard for any government for centuries.

Some have suggested that a new constitutional convention be convened to correct what are seen as its faults. Given the current shape of discourse in this county, I shudder to think of it.

Something to think about. Obviously alot of these unwanted pregnancies are going to end up being given up to foster care or whatever. We no longer have orphanages in the United States(phased out after WWII) and they are going to have to go somewhere and be taken care of by the government until adopted. Who is going to foot that bill? In 2021 , 420,000 kids in foster care and we have all heard the horror stories of that.

I checked to see about orphans in other countries (I have adopted two girls from Russia in 1998) and this is what I found in my quick search—Asia holds the largest number of orphaned children, at 71 million – India alone is home to 31 million orphans. This is followed by Africa, which harbors 59 million. Figures range from 3.4 million to nearly 4 million.

So, again, who is going to foot the bills?

Trying so hard to discuss this issue with my wife. It’s difficult because she feels it so much more personally than I do. She immediately understands that it is a direct threat to her rights and I’m still looking at it in a kind of spectator mode.

All men need to see it as a not just a woman’s rights issue. This is an attack on all of us.

The writing was (and still is) on the wall. Women are in the majority.. Both sexes are in the majority on the issue of reasonable gun control and a woman’s right to her own body choices. So, vote for the candidate that represent YOU Don’t believe Fox News, trump, his ilk or your redneck spouse for recommendations.

SCOTUS said that states can still pass objective firearms regulations, such as limiting what places you can take your weapons.

A big part of the New York law was a subjective element wherein a bureaucrat had to decide if you reason for carrying was good enough.

No “rights” were lost. Abortion is still legal. The court just said that laws are made by the people and their representatives.

In a blue state, nothing changes as all. If you are worried abortion may not be legal in South Dakota, don’t move there.

If you are already in South Dakota, you can choose to vote for representatives that will push to pass laws you agree with.

It is called a Republic. Vote for the people that will pass the laws you prefer.

November is building to what is more important, abortion or the economy. It will be interesting to watch – pass the popcorn.

No one took away the right to abortion. Just returned it to the states where it should have been decided anyway.

R v. W was about privacy, and no less than Justice Ruth Ginsburg said it was questionable.

As for the gun collection comment – it’s stupid. A firearm is an inanimate object. It doesn’t get to do anything. The right to own them applies to the person that is buying them.

And an extremely large percentage of first time firearms buyers are women and minorities (especially Blacks) and that is a good thing.

I know I’ll get a lot of flack for this, but I believe we need to update the entire constitution. It’s nearly 250 years old and it needs to be revised to take in consideration the actual state of the nation (and the world). It’s time for a constitutional convention.
