That so-called white mob was just a bunch of tourists who wanted to see the Black section known as Greenwood. They shot… pictures and left peacefully. Then Antifa…

Not covered up that well, we know about it. The question is, are we any better today, could it happen again? I don’t like to think about the answer to that.

We didn’t have “smoke detectors” in 1922 like we do today . . . nor Greenwood today or knew a riot from a massacre until NOW. Evidently noses couldn’t smell and eyes couldn’t see ? We can now. Will we see it?

    From Wikipedia:

“Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong” is a 1995 book by James W. Loewen, a sociologist. It critically examines twelve popular American high school history textbooks and concludes that the textbook authors propagate false, Eurocentric and mythologized views of American history.

This is a book worth reading.

African-Americans voted for Republicans at the time, Republicans were in charge from Warren Harding on down, yet we hear nothing of it in history class.

Spanish philosopher George Santayana is credited with the aphorism, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” while Sir Winston Churchill wrote, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Let us add “Those who deny the past will try to replicate it.”

The Jews can talk about the Holocaust all they want but it doesn’t even hold a flicker to what Black people have endured for centuries! And the schools here in America and around the world should be made aware of the contributions and life altering inventions Black people have made! For example, it’s taught in history classes that Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin when it was actually one of his slaves! Slaves were not allowed to own patents. And the Conservatives can try and whitewash it all they want but things like the Tulsa riot is already out there and too many people already know about it!

Most people have heard about the Malmedy Massacre of white US soldiers (prisoners) during the Battle of the Bulge. It was only about 3 years ago that I read about Black prisoners, of the 333rd Field Artillery, not only murdered, but tortured beforehand, by German SS captors.

Like facts and empirical truth, history has a “liberal” bias, which is why it is abhorred by Republicans.

It’s why, to them, Climate Change is “junk science” while wanting Creationism taught in schools, and that if sex education isn’t taught in schools, teens won’t have sex.

It’s really telling that a horrible crime (the 1921 Tulsa massacre) that is getting so much attention now was virtually unknown to most Americans until the past year or so. Sort of reinforces the need for teaching some form of critical race theory in our schools at every level.

I would also recommend two books by Kenneth Stampp, written in the mid-twentieth century that re-evaluted both the institution of slavery and reconstruction: “The Peculiar Institution” and “The Era of Reconstruction”. These were considered a turning point in how the history of those periods was seen.
