Misusing federal funds is no joke. Think of the actual assistance that could be provided these immigrants instead of expensive publicity stunts involving human trafficking.

Texas receives 1,200 illegal border crossers a day. A typical Greyhound bus holds 56 people.l. What is LA and all those other sanctuary cities complaining about if some of these desperate people opt for a free ride to the city of their choice? LA wanted them, now they got ‘em. Do your share. Anyone want to go to Rehoboth Beach?

The Constitution, that document that politicians revere, unless it benefits them to defy it, states that it is the duty of Congress to pass laws.

US immigration law was failing even when St. Ronnie handed Congress a do-over by providing amnesty to all illegal immigrants. (Cue constant and years-long howling if Mr. Biden even whispers that word.) He basically said. "We’re at square One. Build a better system.

And Congress did not. Meanwhile, the conditions in the Americas continued to deteriorate. A good part of that has to do with US policy: ignoring corruption and effects of climate change (making farming an impossible profession for many, for just one result) on the one hand, contributing to those problems on the other (St. Ronnie dealing cocaine to raise money for the Sandinistas and pretending that man-made climate change doesn’t exist, for just a couple examples).

And Congress did nothing until 2013, when a bipartisan immigration reform bill passed the Senate. It might have passed the House, had not Ted Cruz convinced his party’s rank and file to vote against. Not that a better alternative was available. And Congress has done nothing since.

But this all happened in the two years that Mr. Biden has been in the White House, right, Joey Weatherford and your fellow fact-ignoring, outrage-inducing sycophants? It was all sweetness and light before?

Let’s throw some truth: Republicans have donors who are happy to use illegal immigrants to harvest crops and work in meat-packing plants for starvation wages under threat of deportation. Even the Dotard doesn’t advertise for help during peak season at Mar-a-Lago, preferring to use H1B exceptions. And let’s not forget how many illegal immigrants were on the payroll there and in Bedminster for many years before they were suddenly all fired because they were “schocked” to find out about it.

To continue: the Fear and Outrage Machine that motivates the MAGA base demands continued feeding, and the border issues are easy fuel. You don’t see one single Republican who is screaming “Enough!” offering any ideas as to how to relieve the crisis. One simple but important step would be to pass laws to restrict the drug cartels’ easy purchase of weapons of war in states like Florida and Texas (those names keep coming up, don’t they?). I kid myself: a Republican politician who can see how increased weaponry increases the scale of crime? I crack myself up sometimes.

Instead we get blame and demands for (and demonstrations of) increased cruelty.

And too many Americans not only tolerate this, but vote to encourage it.

I would shudder to think what would happen if Mary & Joseph showed up at the border.

Meanwhile, growers have complained about a shortage of help with their crops, and soon it will be harvest time. Abbott is not rounding up illegal aliens. He is capturing migrant workers.

Texas spent decades building its highly successful economy on the backs of illegal migrant workers, paid substandard wages to work in hazardous conditions. Now the bill is coming due, and Texas demands that other people pay it. Greg Abott, America’s biggest parasite.

I wonder whether the Repuglicans would be satisfied if we set up watchtowers with machine gun nests every few hundred yards on the southern border. That way, a continuous wall might not be necessary.
