I’m surprised that Putin hasn’t (yet?) sent (loyal) soldiers to block off the Finnish border crossings and “enlist” any able-bodied men trying to cross.

Or maybe I’m not surprised, since he doesn’t seem to have a firm grasp on the concept of “functional”.

E.g., if those he’s conscripting are unwilling, I wonder how many might surrender/defect to the Ukrainians… maybe even shooting their officers to assist in their escape. Putin doesn’t seem to have considered that unwilling conscripts will not automatically turn into willing — even enthusiastic — supporters the instant they reach the battlefield (if not before).
