Because our do-nothing — can’t do the job they swore to do — Congress has played kick-the-can with immigration and other pressing issues, the false perceptions, emotions, and irrational politicians have resulted in thoughtless costly non-solutions that further divide rather than unite the nation [ill-fitting the former party of Lincoln].
Just waiting for the right wing extremist red border states to start “helping” the immigrants by providing them with the work and freedom they desperately desire. They might build some state funded work camps where the asylum seekers can settle in. Protected by high walls around the work and family centers. Excellent security in place to keep a peaceful environment. Work will set them free.
Before Abbott started the busing 48% of Texans approved of his border policies, today 52% of my follow Texans approve of Abbbot’s new truck inspection stunt, National Guard stunt, busing stunt, and other policies that have cost Texas taxpayers over $2 billion so far – and Abbott’s increased hid poll gain to 9 points over Beto.
Again, correct me if I’m wrong but…….to me,an unskilled observer, this really IS human trafficking……*AND* I was under the assumption that ANY KIND OF TRAFFICKING IS AGAINST THE LAW! Or does Texas have different laws than the rest of us? Just curious…..
He has a very large estate that requires many menials to: scrub toilets, mow acres of lawns, cook meals, clean and polish the silverware, etc. All for the promise of “Freedom” sometime in the future as the new “employees” work off their “indenture” status. Even this current sackful may not be enough. Just one of those many “conservative values” we all hear about.
If the Republicans in congress would enact legislation that addressed the “crisis” of immigration from Latin America they would lose one of their biggest political hammers. Without caravans of Illegal migrants what else would they have to whine about?
I have no doubt that abbott and desantis have violated any number of laws with this stunt. I am equally certain that they will face ZERO legal consequences for doing so.
We can solve most of this immigration crisis by increasing work visas to workers from other countries as well as expanding our asylum policies. That said, the GOP doesn’t want to lose its favorite boogeymen, illegal immigrants. And companies don’t want to lose the option of hiring illegal workers they can pay “under the table” to keep operating costs down. Hopefully, in November, the Democrats can expand their razor thin majority in the Senate by a couple of seats (I still expect the GOP to gain the majority in the House, but I hope to be proven wrong) and can pass some comprehensive immigration reform.
The federal government is bussing and flying tens of thousands daily. Some to large cities and some to small towns, without notifying either. Yet, its only Republican governors who do the same for a handful of illegals. That sets the left’s barometer to blow it’s top. Democrats wouldn’t recognize hypocrisy if it walked up and bit them on the bum. As to the 100,000 deaths annually from imported fentanyl? That’s just a cost of doing politics.

“Brown political props.” That’s exactly how Abbott, DeSantis and his cronies see these human beings.

Hey Florida! Next DeSantis is going to start deporting Cubans.
By the way, NYC is going to start shipping its own immigrants to Florida and Texas.
