Admitting key points the prosecution expected to prove in court is generally considered a “no no” for defense attorneys.

Alina Habba: Well, I think that everybody was made aware that he lost the election. But that doesn’t mean that was the only advice he was given.

John Lauro: What President Trump said is, “Let’s go with option D. Let’s just halt, let’s just pause the voting and allow the state legislatures to take one last look and make a determination as to whether or not the elections were handled fairly.” That’s constitutional law. That’s not an issue of criminal activity.

That’s enough to start begging for the mercy of the court right there. It’s admitting both that he knew he lost and that he wanted to stop the orderly process of counting the votes. That’s at LEAST a five year sentence, if the judge is feeling really lenient.

Please remember that all the testimony of his miss-deeds came from REPUBLICAN MEMBERS OF HIS ADMINISTRATION and his personal lawyers! No democrats testified, no strangers from out of the country, no mystery former spies or oligarchs, or people suspected of other crimes. NO, all of the witnesses came from his own administration nd other republican office holders who are in good standing in their jurisdictions. ALL OF THE PEOPLE TESTIFYING AGAINST HIM ARE REPUBLICANS!

House Democrats call for ‘live broadcasting’ of Trump trial

Dozens of House Democrats on Thursday urged the policy-setting body of the federal judiciary to authorize live broadcasts of former President Donald Trump’s upcoming court proceedings as he faces charges stemming from his effort to overturn the 2020 election.Cameras are usually barred from federal courtrooms, but 38 House Democrats argued in a letter to the Judicial Conference that “given the historic nature of the charges brought forth in these cases, it is hard to imagine a more powerful circumstance for televised proceedings.”

It is improper to depict Jack Smith “looking daggers” at Trump. Smith is a professional, doing an assigned job. Better to show FATUS trying to sabotage Smith’s efforts.

‘Third World kind of stuff’: Ex-prosecutor slams Trump team for military plan to stay in power

Former President Donald Trump’s lawyer John Lauro, faced with major charges against his client for the January 6 and 2020 election plots, is trying to put a positive spin on the Trump team considering tactics to undermine democracy common in undeveloped despotic regimes, argued former federal prosecutor John Flannery on MSNBC Friday. He focused specifically on a claim Lauro made on Newsmax earlier this week, in reaction to reports that Trump-aligned DOJ lawyer Jeff Clark wanted to use the military to put down protests that might arise from Trump refusing to leave office: “At the end, he asked Mr. Pence to pause the voting for ten days, allow the state legislatures to weigh in, and then they could make a determination to audit or reaudit or recertify. But what he didn’t do is, you know, send in the tanks.”

Jack Smith seeks protective order citing Trump’s threat on Truth Social

Special Counsel Jack Smith on Friday reportedly moved for a protective order in the criminal case brought against Trump over the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, referencing a social media threat Trump posted earlier the same day.

Trump earlier Friday issued a threat that he will be “coming after” anyone who “goes after” him.

“IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!” Trump posted without any further context on his own Truth Social platform.

That spurred action from the prosecution, according to Kyle Cheney, the senior legal affairs reporter for Politico.

“Prosecutors just proposed a protective order referencing Trump’s Truth Social post from earlier tonight, saying it clearly references other parties/participants in the case,” Cheney wrote.

The motion states that further behavior similar to Trump’s existing conduct could result in ’a harmful chilling effect on witnesses."

Trump also said Smith was “deranged,” “sick,” and “a lost soul” at an Alabama campaign event that same day.

“deranged,” “sick,” and “a lost soul” Trump describes himself.

You come after me – I will come after you. Just as soon as I get out of prison – If I ever get out of prison. Please please don’t send me to prison. I have bad health. My doctor can verify this. My heart is weak. I cannot sleep at night. I am stressed out. My heart. God will NOT let anything happen to me.

This will be a very interesting trial, and unlike Judge Cannon, I doubt the presiding judge will allow heavy delay tactics, which John Lauro has suggested he will try,

If you have a strong case, argue the facts. Jack Smith is doing that.

If you have a weak case, argue the law. John Lauro is trying that, saying that inciting insurrection is simply “freedom of speech”. A very weak case. E. Jean Carroll already taught tRump that freedom of speech has limits. And Rudy Giuliani has “conceded” that years of ranting about Georgia polling station workers hiding and destroying thousands of ballots was all lies. Maybe those workers, whose lives were plagued with death threats, will teach him that same lesson again.

If you have no case, argue emotionally. Or attack the system, as tRump and retrumpliqons are doing. Comparing the latest indictment to something out of Nazi Germany is very strong projection, even for them, considering that tRump has promised that if he’s elected, he’ll weaponize the DOJ and FBI, using them to persecute his opponents and turning the country into a nazi-style dictatorship.
