Actually, Marvin the Martian was the first to wish Earth’s demolition in 1948 (Haredevil Hare; Warner Brothers) using the Uranium PU36 Explosive Space Modulator because Earth blocked his view of Venus. Marvin’s technology improved later when he switched to the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator. Since he was always foiled in his attempts, the Earth was ripe for the successful Vogon demolition of our minor planet thirty-one years later as detailed in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (Douglas Adams; 1979).
