Boehner and company are the ones threatening all we veterans, just as W did. Obama has improved things at VA despite the fact Republicans have continued to provide less than adequate funding for the increase in claims, from “old farts” coming on board, as well as Afghan and Iraq vets.
“Evidently, the conservative extremists believe their own pack of lies.”They need to or they would not be able to live with themselves. (even some of their wives have trouble living with them)snark, nurf.
Once again Lisa let her hate for Obama lead her.I am a war vet and belong to many veteran organizations and each and everyone of our groups blame the shutdown and looming default squarely on the shoulders of the tea party and Gop,and we plan to show them this in 2014.
I saw a video of a Defense Department rep speaking to journalists early last September. He specifically warns that if the shutdown takes place, death benefits would be halted along with other benefits and debts our nation owes the military. For the GOP to act as if this is a surprise is disingenuous and hypocritical. While the shutdown has been an inconvenience to me, it has been life threatening to others. Fox and the GOP are calling it a slimdown. This ‘slimdown’ is costing the US gov’t 200 million dollars a day. It’s costing small business even more. The GOP wants to cut billions from programs across the board, but every 5 days, one billion is LOST. The House GOP is also trying to do a strange “line item veto” where they vote to fund specific programs important to their base or popular in the media while not funding other things. The Dems helped us get to this point, but Speaker Boehnor OWNS this shutdown until he permits a vote on the bill passed by 100% of the Senate. In addition, the 6 week CR he is agreeing to does not get us through Christmas and that will effect small business and companies that make the gifts people want to buy for friends and family this holiday season. My REPUBLICAN Representative, Scott Rigell, is pushing for long term plans that will enable Virginia and the rest of the nation to make the kind of plans they need that will permit hiring and innovation investments. I wrote to him this morning on several issues.I do NOT want the Dems to have total power in DC because I’ve seen the mistakes they’ve made in the past, however, the GOP extremists currently leading Mr. Boehnor’s behavior do NOT want ANY gov’t and have no loyalty to anyone or anything but their own political paradigm. Some of these believe they are doing God’s will and whatever happens will be God’s plan. That is why the founders wanted separation between church and state. To prevent those who seek power in the name of God and who are willing to do harm to millions in God’s name. “Kill them all, God knows his own.”Respectfully,C.
No, dtroutma is pretty much right on target. Starting two wars while cutting taxes and encouraging deregulated banking fraud are pretty much the reasons we’re in the mess we’re in. Obama may not have been the guy to fix it, but if he had inherited the America that Bush had on his first day in office (after being selected by a bogus SCOTUS decision), we’d be in very good shape. W flushed us down the toilet and Obama is doing his best to keep us afloat while GOP is more focused on bringing him down than actually governing. Threatening default is not the way you govern responsibly.

That’s right, the Republicans had nothing to do with this crisis. They were not in Washington at all. Where were they? Certainly not doing there job.

That’s obviously not Obama’s ball that conked the vet. It landed behind the Prez.

The shutdown is entirely the Republicans’ fault, and Benson is wrong to try to deflect the blame.
