I disagree with SWR’s comment. I’ve lived in Japan since 1975. I am a minority since I’m not Asian. But the Japanese (for the most part) like the challenge of dealing with a “gaijin” (foreigner). And while skin color does make something of a difference, the Japanese seem more interested in the cultural differences. Like the young boy (about 10 I’d say) who asked me in Japanese: “elder brother, please open this for me”. He had a can of soft drink with a pull tab on it. Don’t forget, non-Japanese Asians are considered Gaijin too so Khalid’s family isn’t as much a minority as it would seem. And more to the point, you can have a great time here. Good luck and best wishes to you and your family Khalid.
Nice comic, will add it my list. You think its that way in Japan I know towns in Texas where African Americans are a minority to the extreme. An old town I worked back in West Texas had on Black family. Just one. He was a great guy and a ball to be around. When the Rodney King thing happened he said “Well I guess you cops (there were only two of us in the town) are going to surround my house to make sure I don’t get all uppity.” I said “Well I will get the beef if you do the BBQ.” We had a big town BBQ feast. I do miss the old fella…..he could sure cook and did raise a great family.

Finding out what it’s like to be a minority person is one of the things I learned in Japan.
