One reason (at least for me) is that at the doctor’s office, they only ask you to take off your shoes before being weighed. But at home, I step on the scale before dressing. The stuff in my pockets and on my person (personal electronics, keys, wallet, watch, etc.) easily adds 7 lbs right there.
So when I go to the doctor today, I end up removing all of that before getting on the scale. Sort of like what I have to do in airports :-)
I get weighed at the doctor’s office fully clothed. It does add about 10 lbs. in the winter with heavier clothes and shoes. Recently, I weighed myself fully clothed before going to the doctor. My home scale if very accurate.
I just tell my doctor what I weighed that morning. No problem, since it’s always consistent. No food or anything yet, no heavy coat, etc. Besides, doctors can look at us and guess our weight and age better than anyone in a carnival, since they see people all day long.

That’s only if you’re in the UK, Leroy. ;-)

If you were British you’d be happy to have 10 pounds added rather than many more than that subtracted. Though I guess the UK uses the Euro now.

Maybe because the good Doc is weighing in with his opinions?

A. They set their scales 5 pounds over. 2. You have all your clothes, shoes, cell phone, wallet, etc. still on!

Because they weigh you wearing clothes, wallet and phone in your pocket.
