About 50 years ago, at our family cottage, we had a sapsucker who discovered the metal top of our chimney. Every morning during breeding season, he would wake us up at the crack of dawn, hammering on the metal. I think he was quite proud of himself for all the noise he was making!
I just open an endless loop on my computer of a fire in the fireplace crackling . Lasts all night. You actually feel warm listening to it. All in your mind, but it works.
I had a CD with tracks of soothing sounds like the ocean or rain. It was obviously produced by a sadist because 13 minutes into each track was a very loud sound like a seagull squawking, a crack of thunder, etc.

There are woodpeckers at the family cabin. We see them occasionally, but hear them every day!

Most nights I fall asleep to an audio loop version of “Gentle Rain on Puddles and Soft Distant Thunder” — very soothing and no birds or loud thunder.

I like one that sounds like a car ride. Reminds me of when I was a kid, falling asleep in the car.
