I think I heard all of them, plus a few more. I only had one child, but she was a busy one. Anyone remember puff paints? They aren’t for decorating the dog. Or the ceiling. Ever go home from work to find all your cloth rags were tie-dyed and were spread all over the front yard to dry? Ever look for your mascara to put on for work and not find it, only to learn later that your 11-year-old child took it with her to a church camping weekend? Plus, the shudder of hearing in a terrified voice, “I left my hairy pair in your bathroom!” -only to learn later that she meant “hair repair.” Whew! I had no idea what a hairy pair was, but I already had a houseful of pets.

I never had kids, and I don’t ever regret it. It was not in the cards, despite family pressure to have them while I was married: which I’m no longer. My sister had two, both married, and now has 5 grandkids. They are the light of my life.
