Job interview failed: anyone with fractional brainpower would have used the store phone to call the police to open the car. This is a fairly common occurrence and store owners deal with this all the time.

But that would be sensible, which would mean a short and uninteresting story line.

    Kind of like life itself.

That does it. I am going out today to get two spare keys (car and wallet). And pack a change of change of clothes if I ever need the former. As well as deodorant to offset the minutes of panicky sweatiness before I remembered I have spares.

I’m not sure that all police departments would send someone to come unlock the car. I’ve only locked the keys in the car twice in my lifetime, and both times, I had to find a ride home and back so I could get my wife’s keys.

This is going to be an interesting story arc. Does anyone notice how each set of characters are moving to the next stage in their lives. I also find it interesting that Bernice and Delta are embarking on this adventure. Neither has a boyfriend or ever expressed an interest in one, and both are braniacs. I will leave the possibilities out there in the nether, but they are definitely underlying.

Yesterday, the discussion was about all the possibilities for recourse, and their possible ramifications…. I guess today, people could discuss: (1) whether we will cut to a new story arc and have B&D pop in later to fill us in on all the details, or shall we continue? It’s inevitable, I guess, since some were giving up on this week…..(2) …or maybe whether or not she’d (Bern) have a change of wardrobe handy…(3) if people still think Bern and Delta are dumb…(4) whether or not Lu would have been helpful to call, or if she’d gone on the trip, whether or not her phone would have also gone kaput from talking to certain people all day….

Having locked many a key in the car in my days (before buying a car with a smart key that will not let me lock the keys in), I know that convenience stores do not generally provide a service of unlocked car doors nor do most police departments provide this service. A few years back, locksmiths were charging roughly $45 bucks for this service (which is also the price of an AAA membership). It takes AAA service about 45-60 minutes (or longer) to arrive. Or you could call DJ. DJ provided 24-7 service in my county and only charged 20 bucks.

Great story so far. I like unpredictable plot twists. And for those who are trying to claim credit for predicting this, saying she should have a spare key hidden somewhere isn’t the same as saying she does.

An aside though — the key stuck under the frame also has a downside, that of a thief being able to find it and push off easily with the car.

The last time I locked my keys in the car was on my vacation trip last year, fortunately, I always drive with the window a little open (even in winter) and I was able to use the radio antenna of my car (Which comes right out, for some reason) to click the electric lock button!

So much for predictions that this was going to be a “low comment/ low readership week”! Guess sidekicks Bern & Delta can commandeer a strip of their own! Helps having a plot line we can all identify with!*And this is leading to another— what adult hasn’t arrived at a job interview in unexpected disarray! Maybe not oil on the clothes, but coffee. Hair that needs to be combed, shoes with high heels to be changed into. What to do?*Good work, Bern, placing solving your problem independently above your appearance. You got your priorities straight— let’s hope the station does have a clean restroom to wash up in. (Delta will give you the paper towels.)

Unfortunately, my car is mostly fiberglass, so a magnetic box would not stick to anything but the exhaust pipe, and that would be to hold to handle, or would melt the key.

Had a friend in college getting married after graduation … driving there, I had tire trouble, with the outer rubber coming off the tire and banging into the tire wall. I tried cutting it off and all kinds of stuff, finally just kept driving and it tore off on its own. But I was so sweaty and dirty that I could not go to the wedding. I never had the girl’s contact info as she was going into the armed services after her honeymoon, so I never got a chance to explain why I never made it to her wedding and never heard from her again back in ’89. Oh, well … maybe someday on Facebook …or Heaven … which ever comes first.
