Can’t sleep without thinking of either guy, can you, Bernice?

Good thing we didn’t see what she really dreams about doing.

This is like the fable of the dog on a bridge. The dog was crossing a bridge with a bone in his mouth and saw under the bridge a rival dog with another bone. The dog stopped to bark at his “rivak” and dropped his bone into the river. Bernice, unable to decide who to love is in danger of losing both.

Wonder who they are dreaming of?

She imagines both men are the same height she is. Hmm! I wonder if there is some kind of hidden meaning there, where she considers them both to be equals?

Okay, guys, take a number and get in line. It’s open season in Bernice’s Id.

From the three panels above, you can tell which one excites her the most. She still sleeps while kissing nil, but when she kisses Jack, that one shocks her awake. She always did like Jack’s buttocks and cannot keep her eyes off it every time he comes around.

It’s a dream.

IRL, Jack would never break the bro code and date his friend’s GF, not even if they had broken up. Well, unless Nil gave him permission…

We always want what we can’t have. She knows Jack has no romantic feelings for her. We all remember her wearing the scarf and throwing herself at him. With her emotional issues, she should be happy if she can keep a healthy relationship going with Nil.

OK – Where’s this going?

Next, maybe Piro will show up ready to kiss Bernice like he means it, in contrast to that bland, perfunctory little “thank you” kiss he gave her that other time.

What does that mean? She thinks of Nil in her sleep but thinks of Jack when awake? My take is Nil is her subconsciously the right guy and Jack subconsciously the dream guy.

She’s besotted with both. I think she’s yearning for love but Nil is the reality, while Jack is the dream. Neither is all that promising at the moment though.

She likes Nil but she’s more physically attracted to Jack. Unfortunately at her age physical attraction is easily mistaken for love.

That is where many people of any age get it wrong and when it wears off…. There is nothing.

Bernice’s dreams are able to tell her the truth. I’m sorry for Nil, but she wants Jack, not him. Or maybe she wants both? This would lead to an interesting polyamorous relationship. But knowing how Bernice has always been extremely jealous and how hard it is for her to trust others, it would be really hard for her to handle. She needs Dez’s advices.

Poor kid. Can she get any more confused?

Yep… Nil is just a placeholder in her mind..

Bless her heart. Bernice’s subconscious has finally revealed (to her) her internal conflict — stay with Nil because he’s convenient, or express her interest in Jack, which is riskier because she really does like him, but he could reject her. I think this is a maturity moment for her.

People read too much into dreams. Who hasn’t had a fantasy from time to time? It doesn’t mean anything. No one is going to act on it. Or at least no one sane does.

Nil is real and Jack is not real.

She should ask Jack out, if he says no, it will be easier to forget any romantic interest in him

WOW! This is becoming one of the longest recurring arcs in recent memory. And to think it started mildly over a year ago. Where else? At the Dog Park! Magic happens at the dog park and Luann and Jack always seem to be involved. Bernice seems to have been caught up its spell.

Next thing you know, she’ll be dreaming about taking off their clothes and playing with their tongues. She’ll keep having erotic dreams until she declares her love for those two.

Last week I wondered whether we’d see another dream sequence with Jack. https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2020/11/12 Now it’s encroaching into here awake time.

This does not bode well for Bernice. She does not handle internal conflicts well. Now she’s torn between two loves. Are GnK steering the character into an emotional breakdown? Maybe not. PTSD isn’t the hot button issue it once was.

I love this strip, but when did it change its name to “Bernice”? This storyline is BORING!

ya know I haven’t posted…but so much of me just wants Jack to be gay…why i don’t know but it’d almost make the whole storyline even palatable

the authors got bored of making Luann’s love life a humorous joke…so they picked another character to take on a journey but it wasn’t as humorous for the readers

Don’t think she actually LOVES Nil, he’s just a fun time. I think her REAL crush, is Jack.

Even Bernice’s dreams stay pretty mild. They’re the romantic visions of an innocent young teenager, not the unleashed passion of a depraved nympho. (like Steffie).

The grass is always greener…If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with..She seems surprised that her dreams go from kissing Nil to kissing Jack?I think it’s clear that she prefers Jack but since his buddy Nil has spoken for Bernice, Jack is unlikely to make a move or respond to a move by Bernice.

Well Bern, it seems a bit of A-B testing is in order.Invite them both over, they are buddies. She has had some NIl, she just needs some Jack just to be sure. Lol

Last week Bernice had a side splitting headache has her left brain and her right brain were telling her to do different things. Then she get’s a text from Nil who said he be running late. Now she having a dream with Jack in it and Nil the girl is a mess and very confused.

I’m guessing Jack is gay.

I know the horse is long dead already, but it still feels like animal cruelty to keep beating it like this. Yes, we know she likes Jack, okay?!?

it looks like Bern’s dreams are full of Nil with the 2nd panel showing that she’s quite into it; but the 3rd panel with Jack would seem to be a rude interruption.

Oh boy, another week of this.

If I had to guess, she’ll pick Jack.

Not for anything she’s doing, but because of the subconscious drawing of the Evans. Her head is tilted further back Jack’s panel than with Nil, implying submission. And of course for Bernice to move into an actual relationship, part of her will have to submit to things beyond her control. The artwork suggests that she would never yield to her emotions with Nil, but is ready to with Jack.

Time will tell…..hopefully not TOO long.

At least Bernice isn’t stuck on a “type”. Nil and Jack could hardly be less alike. (Passing remark in a previous post to the effect that they’re best buddies is a little hard to swallow, in fact.)
