Hmmmm… Looks like Vale doesn’t want to do the work, and is tricking Luann into doing it for him. First Axel and now Vale…
Are there any guys that go to a tutor to actually learn something, these days?!?
How many dumb jocks can one strip have?
Vale’s ‘grin’ is creepy.
Or you could read one of the many letters Van Gogh wrote that are readily available in one of his billion biographies, you lazy kids.
Nice colors, but it aint no Sunday Gordo.
This is small scale “Intellectual espionage”, sort of what we accuse the Russians and Chinese of doing to our scientists. This big Bozo is just cheating on his homework.
I spy Starry Night swirls in the background. And Luann, I am afraid he’s just gonna write down what you just said. As a tutor, you really should not give your own examples which they will simply repeat in their work. Draw them out instead, Ask how Vale thinks Van Gogh was inspired to paint Starry Night. That would point him in that direction where he has to ponder and come up with something.
Jocks always want the easy way out when it comes to school.
Just do the big lugs assignment for him and charge him for it.
You know. The way Tiffany charged to store people’s junk in her mansion?
Yeah, yeah, I know. Not “ethical.”
But not too much IS these days……, :-(
You know where an assignment like this would really start? RESEARCH. Even skimming Wikipedia briefly provides an outline to use. And guess what: thirty seconds of research revealed to me that Van Gogh wrote hundreds of letters which have been preserved and are easily available online, which would be a tremendous asset for a write-like-the-artist diary project. And from the samples I checked, it doesn’t look like Van Gogh wrote things like that ghastly purple gibberish that just fell out of Luann’s idiotic mouth. Just godawful “tutoring.”
He doesn’t have to study or do any work. He is a football player they will hand him a degree in “General Studies”.
Vale’s helpless. Give up on him Luann. Let him stew in his own juices.
Here comes the offer Luann “can’t refuse.”
He needs seven diary entries. He’s going to steal one from Luann. How is he going to get six more without her catching on?
Let’s face it Luann would make more money with less hassle bussing tables at Weinie World.
Vale??? What the hell kind of a name is that? Never heard it before…..
My niece tutored at the University of Florida. Her future husband signed up to be tutored (not cheap!) not because he needed tutoring, but because he wanted to meet her. Clever fellow.
Yes, that was the perfect example of what Van Gogh would write in a diary. Luann’s knows about his history and life and is using her acting skills to explain it. She’s good, but Vale’s reaction is suspect. He seems to find the explanation amusing and I don’t like his smile as he activates the camera. It’s usually forbidden to record videos at school, probably even during tutoring. This could create problems for Luann. But in some strange way, maybe this could make her want to act again?
Just do not get too feverish, there, Luann…
Also, do not fall for the “just one more”.
Now the guy’s getting creepy.
Next he’ll be asking her out on a date.
Still wondering what the point is of this arc? Are we going anywhere or just noodling around as usual?
I quite like Luanns expression in the first panel, always good to see a new face
Luann’s Vincent just ran out of purple to use in his prose…
Wow, Luann can be very persuasive.
Perhaps he should have done Picasso?
I don’t think Vale recorded that one because it was spontaneous and he didn’t know it was coming which is why he now pulls out the phone and hits record. Luann don’t do it. Let Vale record himself.
Well this guy just got really swarmy with the way he casually pulls out his phone and hits the record button. Hopefully Luann will lose her temper and set him straight on how tutoring is supposed to go. Then he can leave…forever. Unfortunately, Luann will probably get caught up in hearing herself talk and keep on giving him her theatrical examples. I don’t think Greg is drawing Vale. He looks like somebody else’s work.
I wonder if Luann is going to lecture him on doing his own work.
I hope he doesn’t become violent. Could turn out nasty.
Luann reveals an unexpected eloquence, but Van Gogh’s diary is probably somewhat more mundane: “Gauguin is driving me nuts ! He never cleans up after himself ! The place is getting squalid with his dirty socks scattered about..and the empty wine bottles..Ma foi ! I wish he’d go to Tahiti – as he’s always threatening to. The Provençal winter is much worse than I expected. My work is not selling, either…”
Reminds me of the Billy Preston song, “Will It Go ’Round in Circles.”
Wonder if his IQ exceeds his shoe size? I doubt it, since he is a sports ‘hero’.
This could be Greg’s recurring joke, like Lucy’s “Psychiatric Help – 5 cents” stand. Every so often a guest character shows up for a brief encounter and then moves on.
He’s got such a sweet smile!
That loser will flunk out, unless he has a football scholarship
No Vale – It’s your turn. Vale is about to put Luann on social media – making her an object of ridicule and maybe losing her job.
And you wondered how he could get to college football….
We has a budding plagarist in our midst.
He finally smiles and it’s an evil smile.Well,if they weren’t “problem children” they wouldn’t be shunted to Luann.
Does anyone with a Manic Mind actually admit they have a manic mind? They probably think they are perfectly normal.
Will somebody please switch to Grandma Moses before I go mad?
next character please!
THAT LAST PANEL. MAKE IT STOP PLEASE MAKE IT STOP. ALSO WHO WAS AXEL I MISSED THAT ONE WHILE I WAS GONE.
Walk away, Luann. Or call Jack and tell him to warm up his fists!
Looks like Luann might have a career as a WRITER!
Yeah, that’s really not the way it’s supposed to work Vale.
Luann might have an inner genius that has a chance of coming out if she can spend enough time away from Bernice and the family and kick things into another gear.
Misdirection play is coming; wait for it.
How is it that Luann is so clever, insightful, and chock full of information when she’s tutoring, but not so much when she’s living the rest of her lifee?
Vale steals from perfervid Luann. His grade does not improve….
That sloping forehead is the giveaway!
Can’t help but notice the low comment count. Again. Another uninspiring arc. Luann, tell doofus to google “VanGogh letters” and be done with it.
He’s more in Bobby Kennedy mode today than he has been since he was introduced a few days ago. Interesting to see where this will end up.
If they go to Moony U, what’s the “P” stand for on his jacket?
Loser. Thinks he’s a winner, more of a wiener, other than the fact they are pleasant to eat.
Luann seems much smarter when she is tutoring.
