WOW! Dez to the Rescue! Who saw that coming??
So where did Dez get the money? She must be more wealthy than she lets on.
Will it be a loan or a gift? Either way, we know Dez won’t be getting it back. lol
Interesting that Kip took Tiff’s side. So will Stef and Kip still break up??
Since when does Stef not “glom” onto money? (Oh, how kind hearted of Dez there.)
A bad move Dez, that is not helping her, just enabling her. You better have a backup plan to justify this.
I’ve always thought Dez has more money than most.
Dez to the rescue?
Oh great, someone is enabling Stef yet again.
It’s a bad move on Dez’s part you don’t give money to people who want pay you back.
Wow, the people who said Dez would be foolish enough to give Stef the money were right! And not even talk about paying it back or with interest..
No Dez, no, wrong thing to do.
Is Tif the only main character who has not changed their hairstyle over the years? Not counting parents.
Maybe Dez is handing Stef a fiver, not understandind that Stef need $600. But it is possible that Dez more money than people realize because she does seem to travel a lot, and spent the summer break in Haiti building a hospital. It never seems like she is hard up for money.
Dumb move Dez…
Dez believes in Karma, she’ll get it back in one way or another!!
What fresh hell is this with Dez butting in like that?!
A twisting dismount ? Sounds kinda sexy.
Dez is about to learn a lesson about human nature that isn’t all sunshine and moonbeams…maybe….
Dez, noooooooooooo! Lay off the wacky tobacky!
& does Dez to the rescue have anything to do with it being April Fool’s Day?
Someone give her the money so she’ll go away.
Okay quite a few things here to unpack (Cracks knuckles)
One: Kiff they are not friends and never were. You are right she’s doing the right thing.
Two: Steff as someone who has carried dishes for a living, stop. What you do IS work, but Tiff does work for her money
Three: Dez quit enabling her. Honestly the most annoying thing about Stef at this point.. is that Dez and Bets tend to act like she’s an entirely resonable likeable person and not someone who accused both of them of theft, is self abosrbed and just hit up someone she ACCUSED OF THEFT for 600 dollary doos.
A loan or a gift, it’s a gift.
Thisis an April 1 strip…..draw your own conclusions.
Yep, Kip, AND romantic relationships like yours. Dez is being a pacifist, wanting to shut Stef up.
I hope that Stef at least thanks Dez…they’re not even friends, at all…
Gee, what selfish spoiled brat, Stef is.
Uh Oh. Dez is enabling Stef’s selfish dependency by giving her that money.
I foresee Stef pushing for a new roommate ASAP.
Add Dez to the list of enablers with Toni & Brad.
Where did that pop up from Dez? I didn’t know you could actually grow money trees in the community garden. The only money trees I could ever grow end up with worthless but pretty silver seedpods.
Steph sounds like she’s preparing to be the next jerk politician bed companion.
Stef is vile. Dez should not be enabling her and Kip needs to grow a spine and dump her.
Dez, rewarding bad behavior is a really bad idea.
Hey Dez, I’m gonna need about $500. My refrigerator pooped out an my beer’s getting hot.
BTW your outfit looks super cute.
DEZ, WHAT ARE YOU DOING???! Now Stef will always ask her for money! I had thought she would be the one to give them to her But only after Stef started begging her, not just out of pity for after hearing her talk! Dez, poor generous, wonderful girl…, her kindness will lead unscrupulous people like Stef to take advantage of her.
April Fools!!!! It’s counterfeit money
This Stef character has got to go.
Why do I have a feeling that Stef has to be related to Ann Eifel? What a leach!
I believe one of the commenters earlier this week wrote Dez as a potential loaner.
is she doing well with her weed market??
I hope Dez have a lot of money because Stef will always ask for a loan!
Steff and Tiffany two of a kind!!!
id punch stef in her lazy selfish ugly face. she is a major B@#$%
Oh, good grief, NO. Don’t give in to this spoiled brat’s demands.
It better be a gift because she’s never going to see that money again.
Dez to the rescue. Well, they’re roomies so why not? She probably got it from her save the forest fund. + Steff probably lets Dez do pretty much anything.
Steph = Staph = Staphylococcus = Ann Eiffel Jr. = Bad News = YOU’RE FIRED!
I love that Tiff is showing maturity and common sense here. Dez is just enabling Steff’s self-centered attitude.
The only purpose Stef has is to replace the reformed Tiffany and frankly, it disgusts me.
NEVER EVER – LOAN $ TO FRIENDS OR RELATIVES ! ! ! Very few are honest when $ are involved. " True friends are like diamonds , precious and rare ! "
maybe this will get Stef out of the dorm for awhile, (practice time plus the event itself, hopefully out of town). If Stef pays the money back, it’s a win-win….good thinking Dez!!
Stef, this is a loan and you will pay me back with interest. Interest is 8% compounding daily. (in 5 pt font) Failure to repay in four weeks forfeits all your dorm possessions, including your room.
sometimes being a peacemaker is just being an appeaser. When her “boyfriend” and frenemy both say no, just stay out of it.
I was hoping that there would be another panel. Stef seen that Dez gave her six one dollar bills and yelled “APRIL FOOL”.
Paying her to get lost?
Dez!!!! No!! Bad Dez!!!
Is that $600 cash? What college kid has that lying around?
Stef could always get a job as a pole dancer or as a worker in the sex industry. Or, maybe not, because those occupations require dedication and discipline, of which she has neither.
the plot thickens
Very kind of Dez. Why don’t college cheerleaders get paid for their work? It’s highly skilled work with brutal hours, attracts people to the games (makes money for the team) and you have to put up with lechers all day long and rude commentators. Similar to waitressing but a lot harder physically. Surely this hard work should be compensated..
Also, which college kids still use physical money anymore? Haven’t these gals heard of Venmo or Paypal?
No doubt being a cheerleader is hard work. A thing being hard doesn’t make it valuable.
here’s a dollar. run along and get your self a steaming hot mug of ST#U.
This is a perfect end to this story. Dez regards money as a simple tool and not a symbol of anyone’s character. She won’t get the money back and she doesn’t care.
Dez; we know you’re being nice, BUT HAVE STEFFI SIGN A NOTE!
That doesn’t look like $600 in Dez’ hand,
some takeaways for me: 1. the image in the 1st panel of Tiff and Steffie glaring at each other with their helmet-like hair, the clash due (in part) to Steffie as a reflection of Tiff’s former self. 2. Dez as the eternal peacemaker, so much so that she is actually putting up $ to accomplish that goal. 3. The problem is that Steff will now feel justified in requesting $600 which is a lot of cash for a college student to just have lying around (or maybe in a locked box, not a bank… is this how Dez operates financially?)
No, Dez! Don’t do that!
Dez is handing Stef the money without stating any conditions at all. Really bad move on her part. Dez should state some rules before she offers the brat any money. This will only make Stef treat Dez worse, not better. Dez probably thinks this will make Stef become a better person, but Dez is delusional if she really thinks that. Stef is a user and always will be.
So how is it that Dez is able to just fork over $600 like that…. unless her family has money and they support her….
Dez wants something……..
“Neither a borrower or a lender be”. Such truth. Money can certainly wreck all types of relationships. Once, I loaned my cousin $4,000 to help her and her husband out of a big jam. A couple of years later, she was divorced but did pay back $1,000 of it…. then dropped off the radar. After a couple of years, she came back around and asked to borrow $500. I had to remind her that she still owed me $3,000…. She got all huffy and said I was a “greedy, selfish pick”. That put an end to it. That was about 15 years ago. Since then, she’s conveniently forgotten that she still owes me money… we’re not on the best of terms now. I learned my lesson. Never again.
Growhouse profits must be good, huh Dez?
Oh, no! Don’t be such soft touch (a.k.a. sucker), Dez.
You’ll only encourage Stef’s continued general misanthropy….
A parable for our times…
“Money wrecks friendships.” Sounds like Dez has a plan.
Will Stef and Kip break up? OMG. Wait a second, I just remembered, I don’t care. Get Luann laid!
Trying to decide who is more unlikeable, Stef or Ann Eiffel.
Is Dec a stalker?
Does Dez know how many meals that would feed at shelters? Trees planted? Bicycles to children?
Once lent money to friend of a friend who isn’t nice, couldn’t pay me back and he avoided me after that . . . best money spent
Dez, your heart is in the right place. but your head…
lol, Dez doesn’t want her for a friend
Never thought anyone could “out Tiffany” Tiffany but Stephanie sure can.
Kip is probably going to pay a price for siding with Tiffany.
Next frame: Stef glomming onto money from a friend.
Dez’s pot business must really be doing well
Obviously Tiff is the only one with a brain. Dez…the enabler. Bad move. ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
actually… money ruins everything
My understanding is “work” is the stuff they pay you for. “Life” is the stuff you spend the money on. “Debt” is the excuse for never getting ahead. (Or is it just me?) April Fool’s!
Dez! STOP, you’re enabling Stef by rewarding her for being horrible!
Enabler or friend? You decide.
Yes please …Kip and Stef break up.
DO NOT give them money… they never go away…
Well, that’s disappointing.
There’s an old saying that you should never “lend” money to a friend unless you can afford to never see it again. (And don’t give me any grief about split infinitives; in that sentence “see” is the infinitive; the “to” is a preposition that, in effect, puts the verbal noun in the equivalent of an oblique case. Most of the time in English, infinitives don’t have a “to”, as in may see, will see, could be, might have, etc., as well as complements to “help” as in “Could you help me wash the dishes?”)
A good way to get rid of a nuisance: Lend ten dollars and then ask for repayment whenever the nuisance returns. Cheap
Dez’s campus dope dispensary is doing well..
If this gets Stef out of the dorm room, AND THEIR LIVES, Dez and I will both consider it money well spent!
Dez, no!!!!!!!!! You’re only enabling!!!!!
Dez obviously does not want Stef to be her friend, and as RA, she could get her removed from the dorm.
Hey — why New York?! Maybe a wealthy Dallas family, or West Palm Beach or or or…
Why doesn’t Stef just start a go fund me page just like everyone else. Bets will set it up for her for 10% of the take.
What happens if Steffo doesn’t pay back Earth Mother Supreme? Even an Earth Mother wouldn’t put up with losing $600. Dez can afford to travel to far off lands for her saintly works, but still. Evans knows $600 is a lot of money…right?
Somebody doesn’t understand the meaning of “glom”.
I can hardly wait to see What Happens Next!
Dez the enabler.
Amazing how Stef thinks that what Tiffany does isn’t work, yet Tiffany is the one making money.
Even if Stef was to win this contest, what’s the prize going to be? Another trophy? No cash prize to speak of?
Ohhh twisting dismounts! The work that built this country! What a heroine!
I believe that Desdemona is a Herbalist. As a side hustle, it is an easy $60,000.
36 – 27 – 38. https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2017/11/18
Sure, Steff is maybe the most annoying* character ever in Luanniverse, but Dez is showing charity to the unlovable – something I’ve heard about in a very different venue, from people very different from Dez.
Does Steff “deserve” the money? No. Does Dez care? No.
Will Steff use it to pursue her version of her dream? Looks like it. Will she win anything? Doubtful. Will Dez care? No.
This could turn into a big story line in a very direction from the recent petty squabbles. Steff could become what Tiff stopped being when she went to college. If only GnK were up to it.
*There’s evil, there’s conniving, and then there’s annoying. They’re not exactly the same thing.
I hope G & K have a good reason for making Dez an enabler to the terror that is Steff. Dez must know that she’ll never see that money again. By the way, $600 is not chump change for most college kids, yet, she had it – cash on hand.
Dez should just throw that money into the toilet and flush. The results will be exactly the same …. she’ll never see it again.
That’s the way to talk Tiff, you are growing (little by little), but you are!
Enabled again. Most infants’ third word they learn is NO! I’m guessing Stef still hasn’t learned it.
It’s clear why Kip “might” like Stef for some action. But not clear why else. He seems like a pretty decent guy.
Whenever I lend money I don’t expect to get it back. It’s surprising how forgetful people become when they borrow money.
And Dez just happened to have 600 bucks laying around.
What no mention of Kip acting as if Tiff gives a tiddly fluck about saving a friendship with Steff?!
As another commenter pointed out, Dez gives Stef the $ right after Kip’s remark that money ruins friendships. Many possibilities here, from Stef paying Dez back and surprising everyone, to Stef viewing Dez as a sucker/easy touch (and not surprising anyone.)
