Reality check – Nobody is going to want to be branded by 2 girls who thought “BATUBS” was a good business name.

Whenever one looks at it.. all you can see is bathtubs. It’s awful!

    .

I’m curious where this will go. Will G+K actually make them successful in this fantasyland venture?

Maybe G&K should seek some rebranding because they’re sure killing off their current brand.

“Not personal, just business now,” eh Bets?

They said that a lot in the two (GOOD) Godfather films.

But it didn’t end well for most of the recipients of that message. ;-)

Is this a scheme for them to meet guys with lots of money? And is Gunther out of the picture? And what will they use, on or off the website, to demonstrate their competence in personal branding? This will get interesting once they’ve hooked in a customer…maybe at a low, low introductory price.

It looks like in the last panel, Bets has grabbed one of Tiffany’s eyebrows and is trying to force it back onto Tiffany’s head.

Take a deep breath, party people.

Yes, BATUBS is a harlarioudsly silly name. But let’s not totally forget this is still a comic strip. Not a PBS Frontline documentary.

    Repeat after me….

Har dee har har! What a funny, silly name. Oh G&K, you scamps!

    Feels better, right? ;)

I’m afraid you’re being overconfident, Bets. Never a good sign. Cool it and do the footwork on what and how you want to do with your business. Develop a business model and plan. Divide up responsibilities between Tiff and you. Who will do the accounting? Who will be the customer service? Etc. It’s not just about setting up an online account. You did the easy part just now but that’s not the end of it and wait for clicks.

I like the vibe between Bets and Tiff. Both ambitious young women looking for ways to distinguish themselves in the world. I don’t think the branding project will succeed as planned, if at all, but this is the age when you try different things, find out what works for you.

No, I don’t ’ship them. Though it would be kinda hot. ;)

So… what is this arc really about? Is it….. very, very, VERY slowly traveling to a point where Bets DOES show some manifestation of an “addiction” to social media, and this project somehow therefore again negatively affects her relationship with Gunther? If so, it could potentially become “interesting”.

But, if so, this is at a pace slower than a snail.

I think I would have enough time at this pace to go plow a field, plant my own seeds, harvest my own leaf, and produce a crop of pipe tobacco to indulge in before much, if anything happens.

Bets is right to set boundaries deciding that it’s a professional thing now. This should limit the risks of getting too emotionally involved and freezing in panic if something goes wrong. Probably Tiffany’s doubts will stay and save them if this goes bad. I can’t decide if this belief of being experts is good or the premise for disasters. But it will surely be interesting to see how this develops.

I’ve never been an entrepreneur, but shouldn’t you have a business plan, and at least a skeleton of a company, before you start advertising it?

What do business schools teach? What happens in real life?
