Okay, I’m starting to think Ivlax may have been right; Alan seems like he’s got something of a precocious little crush on Luann. It’s actually kinda cute.

One more strip to go. If this ends the week with Luann playing games or finish feeding the kids, then a new arc next week? I can see this going nowhere other than Bernice and Piro dumping on Luann.

And Piro must have told Bernice to tell Luann he thanks her when we weren’t reading, as his “yeah” was more about being in agreement Luann was taking care of the kids as he thanked Bernice for taking care of him (by taking the kids in at the DeGroots) in yesterday’s strip. However, I think it was just Bernice saying he said “thanks” just to cover for him being inconsiderate.

Luann is good – but nobody is this good at winning over strange kids immediately.

I see the Hipppopota Twins are being drawn in that fun Charles Shulz way. =)

It’s cute seeing Alan crushing more and more on Luann, too.

And speaking of “can we all live here?”… I wonder when Frank and Nancy will be walking through the front door?

I am quite sure that LuAnne’s parents WILL be quite taken with the FACT that the contents of the food pantry and refrigerator have been seriously depleted, by all the extra “little mouths to feed”.

The fact that Hippopotami twirl their tails like propellers as they’re pooping, spraying feces everywhere? That portends a really unfortunate ending here.

I really don’t care for Piro. There’s no relationship with Bernice. He just shows up every 6 months or so when he needs something. It’s like throwing her a bone.

And you are telling me no guy is interested in LuAnn but bland Bernice has had 4 different romance arc at Uni and LuAnn has had like 1. If I have to read Bernice lukewarm feelings about men again….Ill explode

At least these six weren’t dumped, by their mom taking off. As the case of Shannon by her dad. But Shannon is turning out OK, so here’s hoping for Piro’s stepsiblings!

Have you noticed that, other than the twins, all the kids (and Piro) appear to have different fathers?

Aww, Luann should realize where her talent lies. She loves kids and is good with them.Those kids won’t want to go home. Go into teaching Luann especially pre-school to 4th or 5th grade.It’s what we need in the real world, people who can actually take care of kids, and truly care about their welfare.

Luann is a friend to all children.

Piro may only see the help his beloved Bernice gives him, but his little siblings will probably only talk about Luann and how happy she is to help him. Especially the shy Alan, who likes her and her kindness. Seeing them so happy for a snack makes me wonder what life those poor little ones lead.

Luann has a calling…and an admirer….oh boy that’s going to be fun…NOT. LOL.

I knew that was going to happen! Piro is thankful for the help from Bernice and Luann.

Wondering if Alan is on the autistic spectrum. Luie should consider becoming a special needs teacher.

Alan looks like he’s from a different cartoon strip.

Less than a week and they’re way more likable than Shannon. Or T. J., for that matter.

I’ll say this much: this story is a definite improvement over what last Monday made it look like we were gonna get (another installment of Luann bemoaning her lack of boyfriend while making no effort to improve her situation.) And her and Bernice managed to make it out of the bedroom after all.

“And also he said, and I’d like to make this absolutely clear, that this whole thing you’re doing … where you’ve been volunteered to care for all his siblings with no notice and no compensation … he doesn’t value at all. But he thinks that me calling him and asking if he ‘needs anything’ is amazing and he loves me for it. Anyway, have fun with all this.”

Man I’m liking this storyline, surprise surprise, Luann & Bernice got skills ! ;-)

That would be a “no”. Frank and Nancy are not going for that.

Here I go with the “story” again. No one seems to notice the underlying serious drama, and the more serious situations the main characters are encountering in their journey to adulthood. Piro has a lot going on, way more than an average kid his age has to deal with. He and his cousin Tara come from the polar opposite of Luann’s family, love, and sardonic humor versus dysfunction and darkness. Both are interested in Piro, a handsome (well he is hot, hotter than just about any male character that we’ve seen in three months of Sunday, just troubled and overwhelmed, but guess who he looks to for understanding, and help? Not Luann, although, as usual, she is showing her kindness and smarts, calmer than all the generational critics here grant her, and thus is a whiz with these really needy kids. Nope its Bernice. Bern, please open yourself to this opportunity. If you do your biggest problem is what you always call yourself doing, fix him. I think that may be a developing theme, but Bern must learn to truly “see” another persons pain, and be the balm, perhaps romantic, to help fix him. Just not be obvious. Be there. I know people hate her, which is fine if that is their way, but this whole arc is an enormous step, leap actually, into extremely serious drama, but done humorously. Can’t wait to see how this develops.

Luann used to work at that day care or preschool. She’s great with kids and really enjoys being with them. Wasn’t she going to be a teacher?

And Alan has a crush.

Don’t know if Bernice will be having fun with Piro anytime soon, but Ms. babysitter sutre looks like she’s having fun.

Better start getting Bernice’s room set up for an overnight daycare.

Poor Alan. Maybe being a drip is just a phase, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

This is so sweet and uplifting. It’s everyday heroes like Luann who help those who do not get the upbringing they deserve (for whatever reasons) and help children like the little lost ones here find their path to happy, productive lives. I hope this week makes Luann realize what her superpowers truly are: Caring about others!

Smitten Alan is adorable!

Piro does what he can for the kids and his mom, but is overwhelmed and exhausted. This may be the first time he’s truly asked someone for help. It’s a big step for him.

Where are all of these kids going to sleep tonight? Their mother is not going to be released from the hospital tonight if she has just suffered a stroke. What if one of them gets sick or injured? The DeGroots are not their guardians. It is nice that Luann can play with them and make sandwiches but there are liability issues that have not been taken into account here.

The biggest kid is right out of a cartoon tv show.

Alan has this “Guntheresque” look about him, and it appears he has quickly developed a crush on LuAnn.

About that last question—-I’m having some doubts.
