Yep, If I were the hair critter, I’d have packed my bags and taken off long ago.
In fact if I’d somehow been inveigled into working for him, I would hope that I’d have had the sense to see the ketchup on the wall, and walk firmly away without looking back. The number of people who continue to put themselves in harms way in order to be mistreated by him astounds me every time I think about it.
Trump kept documents that he thought he could use for monetary gain. Following correct procedures to declassify the documents would have a) alerted someone in government what he was up to, and b) lessened the value of the documents in any deals he was going to make with them.
A document that has the classification level marked out and stamped Unclassified is clearly not going to impress anyone making a deal for the information as much as one that is still stamped Top Secret/SCI.
And then there are the rules about documents going to the National Archives.
Trump’s actual beliefs about such rules was summed up in his remark about being able to kill someone on the street. He really came to believe no one would ever successfully hold him accountable. And the Republican Party played a significant role in letting him get that way.

Hmmm… mumbo jumbo… countenancing and likely participating in sexual abuse of minors… assuming the mantle of infallibility… relying on the unblinking obedience of a mass of genuflecting followers… yeah, it works.
The British philosopher J. L. Austin wrote an interesting book, “How to Do Things with Words”, in which he discusses what he calls “performatives”, that is, speech utterances that do something (in addition to or instead of saying something). An example is a minister performing a marriage ceremony: when he says “I now pronounce you man and wife”, he has done something. Declassification would count as a performative. But as Austin points out, the circumstances have to be right for the performative to have effect. If a minister happens to be acting in a play and says these words, they won’t have the effect. So Trump’s supposed declassification (for which there is no evidence offered) would have had to be performed in the proper circumstances.
That doesn’t matter even if it were true, he took things that do not belong to him. Including love letters between him and Kim Jong Un and the model of Air Force One.
Can some kind soul explain the staff construction? I get that it’s a wooden staff with a headpiece—a round gizmo duct-taped to the top of it. But I’m missing the meaning, and what the round gizmo is. Magnifying glass? Dunno.
If the documents are unclassified then anyone can make a FOIA request to obtain copies, even Putin friends here in the US. Let’s see how that works out.
Trump is so dumb that he fails to realize that his argument that he can just say “It’s all unclassified because I said so while president!” can be turned around.
Biden could simply declare, “As President, I declare that all documents in the possession of Mr. Trump and/or his lackeys that have not officially been marked unclassified or for which proper proper paperwork to render those documents as unclassified are hereby declared to be classified at their previously recorded security level, with no exceptions. Failure to comply, or to attempt to hide or destroy such documents shall be evidence of intent to compromise the security of the United States of America.”
I will never understand the religious people that seem to believe Orange Con Artist is their messiah. Insane. Then again, they have to be insane to be able to follow Orange logic: “The papers were planted. I declassified them. I want them back.” Rinse, repeat. The most hilarious thing being he left hand written notes on some of the papers. I understand innocent until proven guilty, but I think we passed that a long time ago.
Gee, where’s Krackles the hot-shot lawyer who just knows her Uncle Daddy can do exactly that, because (after all) he’s the President. Or was. Or something like that. Besides, he’s our Holy Maga King, doncha know?
Ok, well, at least King Türd on Bandini Mountain, but King just the same!

Declassified or not, it is still a crime to treat them as unclassified if you don’t change the cover sheet on the document.

I’m still chuckling. And is that trump’s hair running away?!
Is anyone surprised trump thinks of himself as the church leader. He’s treated as such.

I’m concerned that: 1) they didn’t find them all, and 2) what he did with the ones they can’t find…
