Donald Trump: There are no consequences to protesting anymore. There used to be consequences. Donald Trump: In the good ol' days this didn't happen because they used to treat them very, very rough. Donald Trump: And when they protested once, you know, they would not do it again so easily. Donald Trump: We're not allowed to punch back anymore. I miss the old days.
Actually, I agree. Protesting has become too safe. It is now a trust-fund-baby hobby. It’s supposed to be a bit dangerous. What’s a little pepper spray and a water cannon or two? Protesters in the 50s and 60s got their heads cracked, were sprayed, hosed, tossed in hoosegow and got the odd dog bite. They were committed.
How can you be a revolutionary if you’re not willing to risk at least a little skin? If you run and hide at the first wave of a police baton, you’re not committed to your cause. Protesting today is a game for sissies.
