PLEASE! READ THE DOCUMENT! Immigration is SOLELY a federal responsibility! Let’s get tariffs between Arizona and California-stop migration from Michigan to Arizona! The state would dry up and blow away! (as it was intended- minus the idiotic CAP)
The truth is that we could solve the problem by simply enforcing the laws that are already on the books – companies are not suppose to employe people who do not have green cards.
Business, correctly, points out that green cards are easy to copy, and the immigration service is so underbudgeted and under staff that it is hard to comfirm who or who isn’t illegal.
So instead of spending billions building walls, why don’t we spend millions to increase the staffing of the Immigration services, and set up a green card system that works?
Better yet, why don’t we let business set up as system that they can use, like the one they use to check my credit, it wouldn’t costs us taxpayers, it would probably work better, business would have to pass the costs on to us, but it would be better for them then paying all of the fines they should be paying.
Or is it just more fun to round up people and throw them back over the wall.
if, before one can vote in any race, one must demonstrate a
working knowledge of at least 3 of each candidates positions
on issues of the day, the turn out would be tiny, and government might possibly be better.
Well trout; the way I read it is that the states do indeed have the right to assist the fed’s. Of course I’m not an educated expert. This is not about stopping immigration; this is about securing our border. The bad guys have figured out how to use this border situation to their advantage…………….

It’s called “The Constitution”, not “Holder”, andy.

There’s nothing in the CONSTITUTION that prevents the State of Arizona from assisting the Federal Government in doing their job!

And nowhere in the constitution does it support ILLEGAL…..

Arghh…I’m on the side of the righties. Er, except Howie.
This feels so…uncomfortable.
What’s going on here? What is it that Arizona is doing that’s in conflict with federal law/policy?
Their original law was a bit suspect, but it seemed to me they fixed it.

I dunno…what does “general welfare” mean, anyway? I’d argue it includes health care, but the Republicans obviously disagree.
Or do “the Blessings of Liberty” include not having our money stolen from banks?
riley05 over 13 years ago
Hey, I listen. I’m with you.
But I’ll go further: Pull out immediately…damn the consequences…from Iraq and Afghanistan…maybe even South Korea.
Take your earmarks idea, and add in a line-item veto.
And make Congressional salaries market-driven, which I’ll bet will make your 25% cut seem tame.
Motivemagus over 13 years ago
How about pegging congressional salaries to average workers’ pay in the US? Explicitly excluding executives…
riley05 over 13 years ago
No, Motive, let’s get real. That wouldn’t happen unless the Congressmen were voted in by the people…
Okay, wait.
That wouldn’t happen unless the Congressmen were voted in by the intelligent people…who are far outvoted by the idiots.
