As Paul Ryan gets ready to strike down the Affordable Care Act, Trump voters are waking up to a cruel reality: It turns out lots of people (including Trump-voters) rely on it, and don’t want it to go away. This includes coal miners who voted for Trump because he promised to bring back their jobs (jyeah, right, sure), but golly-gee, they missed the part where he said he’d repeal Obamacare. See, Black lung claims are covered by the ACA, thanks to the late Robert Byrd. Under the ACA, the burden of proof for black lung claims shifted from miners to the mine owners. Thus, miners have qualified for disability benefits and health care. If Republicans Repeal the ACA, Byrd’s black lung provision would be gone, along with provisions for subsidized health insurance plans and expanded Medicaid for low-income Americans. They’re gonna die, painfully, in their relative’s homes.
.
But don’t worry! Trump promised that wouldn’t happen, right? Too bad, so sad. That’s a promise he really can’t keep, given that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell control the legislation that gets to his desk, and it’s clear from the recent battle over the continuing resolution that Republicans have no intention of protecting coal miners from anything, or ensuring they receive health care after working under unsafe conditions for so many years. These miners, like so many other Americans, will be victims of Trump and Republicans. Because, you know… it’s Obama’s fault.

Obama was the ship, Trump’s the shark. I suppose the life jacket is whichever Democrats are left.
