Why are fossil fuels exempt from cleaning up the messes that they’ve caused?

Time to move the corporate headquarters from Houston to higher ground – say Denver – but make those cities at higher altitudes offer bigly tax breaks.

Coal is a 19th century fuel for a 21st century fool.

Not nearly enough, as various oil spills indicate. The Gulf Coast oil spill would not have happened had Dick Cheney not personally intervened to prevent the implementation of regulations requiring specific safety devices to save a few bucks.

Those same devices were used with great success in Europe, e.g., Statoil, which was partially controlled by the government, and therefore was being run for the benefit of citizens. Social democracy for the win!

Meanwhile, we have hugely contaminated the Gulf Coast, which will have negative consequences for the inhabitants and the fisheries for decades to come. How do we know? Because the site of the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska more than THIRTY YEARS AGO is still not back up to its pre-spill levels of ocean life.

Fossil fuel companies get 10 times more subsidies than the government gives education.

Fracking is raising the green house gas emissions by 20%.

It started with Standard Oil, and has done nothing but gain power, around the world, since.
