Doesn’t seem to be a crime to work to take down the USA to satisfy a narcissistic ego. So many people willing to do that. Voting for him in 2016 and now is the true horror of this situation.

Would a constitutional amendment be needed to impose ethical requirements on presidential pardons?

Looks to me that Rudy should be under the rubble as he was trying to pull it down from the nether regions.

That line should read: “Oopth, pardon me.” Still a good gag, though.

Like his trashing the voting system may backfire in GA, his pre-pardons may backfire also. The point has been made that, when granting a pardon, you have to be fairly specific as to WHAT is being pardoned. I understand that Trump may not understand the difference between criminal acts requiring a pardon and just plain disgusting acts that don’t, and that he just assumes that everyone is like him and will seek revenge. But Giuliani is a lawyer and should know the difference. So, he’s admitting that he’s committed criminal acts?

So if Rudy gets a pardon, that means he’s been committing crimes while he was the personal lawyer for the president of the United States. Republicans are sleezy people.

This old veteran will never forget, and forgiveness is extremely unlikely as well. Carrying on a four-year assault against the America I served has earned my perpetual loathing.

The Democrats have always let the Republicans get away with the dubiously legal crap they pull when in office. This is possible because the Republicans cooperate by attempting to cover it up first. Once the Democrats are back in power, they have to try to accomplish something before they lose that power, and they have to have to try to get along with the Republicans who are still in the Senate and HofR in order to do that. No Republican is innocent, even those who just went along to get along. And, the Democrats realize that exposing governmental misconduct does not inspire confidence in the government, either from American voters or from the world as a whole.

Trump is a whole different situation. First, there is nothing remotely dubious about whether his activates are illegal. Second, he not only doesn’t attempt to cover them up, he announces them on television, on tape. Of course, he probably is covering some things up, which is mind boggling, since what he brags about it pretty awful.

At any rate, the Democrats are put in the position of being unable to ignore Trump’s illegal activates. If they do, they align themselves with the “go along to get along” crowd. That undermines any remaining confidence in our entire government, and creates a situation that scares them more than the results of letting the Republicans get what they deserve.
